Description Isle of Dogs is an amazing movie and Cheif is a dog with clear PTSD. I think people who adopt often forget that these dogs might have been through some though stuff, mistreated or abandoned.

Dogs can have PTSD too and some things will affect their entire lives. There are three things to keep in mind: Love, respect and understanding. You might not know what happened to a dog you adopt from a shelter or even from another person. But: treat them with care, let them know they are the light of your life and always be there for them. Maybe bad things will happen and unwanted behaviors: but give them new chances. So many dogs suffer from the fear of being send away for a mistake. Dont let them down.

Well...that is the sad part. He does not (means it), he cannot help it and he clearly hate himself for doing it by accident. He tells the story in the movie and I don't want to spoil it for you.

It is a very unique movie. Both the animation and the characters are really charming. And the story had a lot of plot twists. You drew Chief very well (I kind of wish he had natural black fur because he looks cooler).

Thanks. Yes I really love it and the humor and dark elements are done so well.

I agree he could still be Spots sibling, a dog can have different kind of colors on their pups even pure-breeds. I think it is more symbolic, all the dogs who had a master are cleaner than the strays. It is symbolism of him becoming a persons dog and not to be a stray anymore.

I love the sleek, glossy effect you were able to create with the fur; and I completely agree with your words in the description of this drawing. Animals can have PTSD just like humans - the only difference is that most people write it off as bad behaviour.

It is a furbrush from and just changing the lightness of the color.

Yeah. I have met many dogs with abandoning issues, biting out of fear and/or just not being understood. I helped them out but sadly people have a hard time understanding them. They cant fathom the fact that since the dogs evolved with us for thousands of years they have the intelligence of a 2-5 year old child (depending on the dogs, age, breed personality etc) because they are "just dogs". Well a dog might never understand what math is but most of them can count to five or think in few and many. All they need is love, compassion and understanding and they can survive most issues from the past.

It scares me how society look at dogs nowadays. When I was a kid all adult told their kids to not per a dog they did not know without asking, never to force contact on a dog (let them come to you) and never touch them while eating. Today kids run over and throw themselves at my dogs and go "may I pet him" while hanging around their neck. Well both of my dogs are very friendly and tolerant with kids especially but I tell the kids to always ask first: cause maybe a dog will be scared and bite them. I am all for kids having contact with animals it is actually essential but they have to understand mutual respect.

I agree with you; people need to understand that dogs, or any animals for that matter, are not here for their amusement. They should try to understand that they are living creatures, just like people, indicating that they have intelligence, different personalities, and feelings of their own - all of which should be respected before even approaching the dog.

I have FANTASTIC MR. FOX on DVD and ISLE OF DOGS on Blu-ray.

Still worth to watch.
A nice film adaption of the book with the same name by Roald Dahl.
One of my favorite idols.   And I have the book.

I have Isle of Dogs on Blu-ray.

Yeah I remember our first-grade teacher still as she read the Witches, BFG (SVJ in sweden), Charlie and the Chocolate factory and I guess James and the giant peach but I think I confuse it with another book.

She also read the more serious Astrid Lindgren books like Mio my Mio, Ronja Robbinsdaughter and Brothers Lionheart. You know that phenomena that when you read a certain line from a movie you think in that persons voice? Like if you read "Do or do not. There is no try" you read it in Yodas voice. I have the same thing with these books. If I read them in Swedish I read them in her voice.

Nice!   You too.  XD

I love reading Roald Dahl's children's books and adult books.
I have the books, audiobooks and films.
I have all of the children's books and two of his adult books, "My Uncle Oswald" (Onkel Oswald, a novel) and "Someone Like You" (Et Hode Kortere og Andre Hårreisende Historier, a short story collection), but I want to get more.

Oh yes, Heksene, SVK (Store Vennlige Kjempe), Charlie og Sjokoladefabrikken and Verdens Største Fersken.
In Norwegian, you see.   And we Norwegians love Roald Dahl.

My very first books I discovered as a little kid was The Enormous Crocodile (Den Kjempestore Krokodillen), George's Marvellous Medicine (Georgs Magiske Medisin) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Charlie og Sjokoladefabrikken).

Wooooooooooooow!   What a great teacher to learn kids in generations to read and explore literature.

Yeah!   Astrid Lindgren!   We all love Astrid Lindgren too.
She is so very famous here in Norway.
I love Pippi Langstrømpe, Karlsson på Taket and Emil fra Lønneberget.
I have the Pippi books and the audiobook box set, and I have some of the films.

Yes, I know how it feels to when I read and hear the voice.
Amazing.   Totally amazing!

I try to watch something from Olle Hellboms Astrid Lindgren movies every summer. Nothing gives me the feeling of a real summer than that.
