Zeus and Poseidon gave themselves the short end of the stick.  Hades made out like a bandit.  LOL!  Take requests?

I always hate the way they play Hades as the bad guy. It's Zeus & Poseidon who were the lying scum. The 3 were supposed to take turns running the 3 available realms of Sky, Sea & underworld (their aunt Gia firmly entrenched as the Goddess/Avatar of the Earth). Zeus & Poseidon tricked Hades into "taking the first turn" running the underworld & then betrayed him, trapping him there for eternity with only short visits to Earth or Olympus for business. He even gets only 50% of his own wife's time, her over-bearing mother creating this "Kidnapping" story (false kidnappings were once part of the wedding proceedings in many cultures, it's where we get some of the influence for Buck's nights & Hen's nights) that Persephone played along with for the sake of the world of nature that her mother was freezing in her rage... Sorry for the rant there.
I love the framing in this piece & even the clothes (as your friend wrote) tell the story of who these "deities" really are.

They are more deities than you will never ever be, so stop crying like a fucking baby.
And no, they didn't "tricked" anyone, this is just an excuse you love to use.

Okay, I don't know too much about the whole tricked lots thing, but out of the three, Hades is the best out of all of them. Zeus and Poseidon are both rapists. Zeus even disguised himself as Artemis to get close to one of her hunters, Callisto (who swore off ever having sex or falling in love with a man), and immediately raped her the moment she got close enough. Whereas there is no myth I know of that directly states that Hades raped anyone. People argue that he raped Persephone, but actually that's left ambiguous is the majority of myths since it's never clear as to whether she knew what the pomegranate seeds Hades gave her would do. It's all just speculation. So on one hand we have Poseidon and Zeus who we KNOW raped countless people, and then Hades, who MIGHT have raped one person, and nobody's even sure about it since the myths either contradict themselves or aren't clear.

And who said anything about crying like a baby? What? How are they crying? They're just pointing out a lot of flaws in most modern depictions of Greek mythology.

But in all seriousness, though, what do you mean by an excuse they love to use? Because it's unclear as to whether you're referring specifically to the topic of Greek mythology or not.

Hello! Thanks! It's from the Greek Myth webcomic that I draw for: A Hundred Days of Night. This is mainly backstory for the characters, but you can read it here

I just looked through, and it's fantastic, you put a very unique spin on Greek mythology.  I just recently came up with an idea for a story using African gods, which I think has never really been explored before in stories, especially in America. I read a few of your chapters and it was very entertaining. Please keep it up, and you're more than welcome to drop by my gallery anytime.

Love your character design. Zeus is the youngest of the 6 Olympian siblings, and the sluttiest, but he is so often portrayed as an old beefcake -- which is also sexy, but I like how you've made him actually look the youngest and even most diminutive of the three brothers.

Yeah, at this point of the story, he's still a kid (they all are, but Zeus is way younger)

I love these badass boys! And of course the ultra glamorous Zeus. :'D

We know he grew the beard to appear more manly, but do you think that maybe that's why he impregnated all those women too?

Haha, I'm so late with commenting on everything it's not even funny anymore. xD Beautiful piece as always, I love how Hades is the only one who doesn't seem to be looking forward to what is  to come. Or he's disillusioned maybe? And you made him look like he's disappearing! I'm trying to figure out how you did that- but whether you played with opacity or painted the effect yourself, it looks natural and I'm impressed. :'D

hahahah i'm late with commenting on everything, i still have things from cait on my inbox....FROM MONTHS AGO AHAHAHAH ...ha...

Thank you ;U; Yep, I tried to make him look like that. That he's disillusioned and tired already (or maybe the only one who is really thinking about the future XD)

I used a transparency gradient. It isn't exactly what I was trying to achieve, but it's better than nothing XD

emedeme In reply to Blueberry-me [2013-11-12 13:31:54 +0000 UTC]

Blueberry-me In reply to emedeme [2013-11-16 14:36:18 +0000 UTC]

Poseidon, tienes fans, vale?

emedeme In reply to Blueberry-me [2013-11-16 17:53:11 +0000 UTC]

Awesome. Although... if Hades has it all the way on, he should technically be invisible.

emedeme In reply to Novanplz [2013-11-06 10:07:51 +0000 UTC]

Not really.

You see. It's a kind of visual resource. I tried to make him becoming gradually invisible, as if he was turning invisible in that very moment. I'm sorry my intention didn't go through.

NOPE. NOPENOPENOPE. BABIES. TT_TT Hades especially, between his expression(what can be seen under the helmet, anyway) and the way he's sort of fading and transparent... This is so gorgeous and phenomenal and heartbreaking I just... can't find the right words.

...And now to sit in a corner and weep quietly. STOP BREAKING MEEEEEE. No. Wait. DON'T STOP. EVER.
