Someone had actually asked the same exact question, so I can give you the same answer.

I used the Magic Wand tool at 100% to select the majority of the tree. I then used the Selection tool at a small size to select more details. I cut the selected part out of the original photo and then place it on the background I want to use it on. Colors are adjusted and the burn/dodge tools are used to make it blend in. It's an intricate business, but it's effective.
