Ash was lying on the ground, sniffling. Flare nuzzled the kit and whispered to him.

" We'll get her back... I promise... " The fox said, laying her bright orange cloak over Ash.

" R-r-really? " Ash mewed, his voice shaking.

" Yes... "

Back at Eggman's base...

Emerald was sitting beside a solid glass wall, her figure slumped over in depression and anger. A low growl was rumbling from her throat, echoing in the chamber in which the feline was encased in. Her cyan eyes were burning with fury, clearly showing that Emerald was hating her current situation. Suddenly, a speaker mounted on the wall started to emit loud yelling and static, causing Emerald to yowl in surprise, anger, and pain, and cover her ears.

" Argh, is this stupid thing on?! " The speaker boomed, sounding like an angry male.

" Yes, sir. Calm down, sir. " One of the machines guarding Emerald's capsule said, its voice robotic yet soft.

" Good. Now, how's our guest doing? " The speaker replied, the voice was calmer than before, letting Emerald to uncover her ears.

" I think my ears are bleeding... " The she-cat grumbled miserably.

" The subject is fine, sir. Just in a bad mood. " The robot that previously calmed down the man talking in the speaker answered.

" I'm ticked, for your information, idiotic robot. " Emerald hissed.

( Emerald is being a smart alec >.> )

" So, Emerald, we meet again. " The speaker said, changing the subject.

" Shut up, Eggman. I'm not in the mood for chat. " Emerald spat, crossing her arms.

" Why you little.. Never mind that! So, it seems you have been captured, by me! " Eggman gloated, cackling.

" Umm, yeah, I already know that! " The cat growled.

" Grr... You're even more annoying than Sonic... Anyway, since you're stuck here, I think I should use a machine that... Well, has being gathering dust. Ever since my failure with the Zeti and Tails- " Emerald's ears perked at the sound of Tails' name and Eggman was interrupted by a loud hiss.

( I'm not entirely sure, but I'm thinking this happened after Sonic Lost World o3o )

" Tails?! If you dare hurt him, I'll- "

" Argh! Shut up already! Anyway, this machine, well, I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, but let's say it'll control whoever it is aimed at! " Eggman let out another laugh.

" I highly doubt that crap will work on me. I won't let you control me, you tyrant! " Emerald yowled, standing up.

" Any attempt to resist my control is futile. It never works! " Eggman replied, pressing a button beside the microphone.

Emerald began banging on the glass, until she heard a soft hiss. She felt gas waft up into her nostrils and began to feel lightheaded. Her eyelids began to droop, and her legs were about to give way. She wobbled backwards and fell, slamming onto the cold floor. The last thing she heard was a manical laugh before she sank into darkness.

Will Ash, Dawn, and Flare save Emerald? And, what was that machine Eggman was speaking about?
