Messy almost froze her canter stride at the vision of this tricolored predator; it menacingly danced in the wind and promised her a terrible death. Matteo could only side eye the wavering flag as he gently pulled on his outside rein.
Please don't he thought almost loudly, trying to reason his mare and bring her back into a non dramatic course. This wasn't the time and place for insanity, and if he wasn't opposed to showing the whole audience how well he could sit a bronc, Matt still preferred to clear a round instead. Something nice and clean as he followed her mother's footsteps.
Wishful thinking maybe, but either way, he pushed his varnish mare forward, hoping to turn the chaotic energy into more speed as they left the Italian flag in their dust.
