Lovely! I like how you chose a photo where the geisha is shown from behind instead of from the front .

Ahhhh, Geiko! In Tokyo they use the the word Geisha, in Kyoto, Geiko. She is a Kyoto Geiko, you can tell by the hair.

You've actually picked an interesting image to study, usually Geiko will wear a wig in a different style. Apprentice Geiko, Maiko, usually look like this. But the photo was taken the day this Geiko performed Tea Ceremony for the Spring Cherry Dance audience members.

Geiko look like this on a normal day: [link]

Maiko look like this on a normal day: [link]

But for the Spring Dances, it's a tradition for the serving Geiko to wear her own hair styled: [link]

If you knew this already I'm going to sound terribly self-righteous, lol.

Thank you very much for the info and beautiful photos.
I'm really uneducated when it comes to Japan, especially their culture

Thanks!
Yeah, love that photo, that warm light from the right and those cold colors in the left side, makes it a great photo to study.
