In a world where the supernatural are not uncommon... The designers of that game would indeed be insensitive and quite possibly be guilty of hate crimes. Lending credence to this is one of the recent strips, the one with the ID card of Mr. Phids (?). On said card is the field "Race: Human". It's no longer just Race: [insert ethnicity or nationality here]. It's a species, it's a kindred.Β
If they're to treat it in-setting as fiction, then fine... BUT... it is unarguably insensitive to be mowing down zombies while in the presence of, and having a friend who is also a zombie. One with her own thoughts and feelings and sentience.
On the point of sentience--- are the zombies in the game that is in the comic sentient?Β
