Description The first of the images to be shown here on DA from my new book, Manga Shakespeare: Much Ado About Nothing ^_^

These are a random choice to show, I know, but I really liked how they came out. This is Dogberry and Verges, the two bumbling watch members charged with questioning Prince John's men.

To see more images of characters, just click on the workblog link on my current journal entry. I'm just ten pages into the comic in inks so far, and about 40 in pencils - but I'm really enjoying the process.

I hope you like these guys as much as I do!

I remember doing this play. Dogberry and Verges are awesome, even though they're really scatterbrained.

Wonderfully done, as usual. Although I do not know much about this play, I am looking forward to seeing it, especially after seeing the work blog and some of the characters that you have already drawn.

Looking forward to seeing more ^_^

Nice work. Your style seems to have developed quite a lot from Hamlet, the most notable difference being the colouring which is really nice by the way, nice use of highlights and shadows. The simple background works really nicely as well. Frames the charcters and makes them pop out at you.

emmav In reply to RDComics [2008-08-03 22:26:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Hamlet was a real lurning curve for me and, as you know, the colour sections are the first bit to get done...so by the end of the book I was looking back wishing I could redo the colours and cover. haha.
This time I'll feel happier I hope!
Thanks hon ^_^

Outlawstar8489 [2008-08-03 00:58:14 +0000 UTC]

Nice , you said bumbling, and thats exactly the feel I got off them before I read the description, I particularly like the dude on the lefts hair curl ad how you`ve applied the shading to the folds on the clothes.

Not sure if you were looking for crit but I think the guys left arm on the left, looks a little elongated on the top half.

emmav In reply to Outlawstar8489 [2008-08-03 10:26:09 +0000 UTC]

Perfect ^_^
I'm glad the bumbling comes accross! I'll take a look at that arm, but I'm afraid the finals have been sent now.

Ah then you may as well just pack it in.XDDDDD
Kidding of course, seriously though its fine, only noticeable after a long look.

Cant believe your already that far in, Im having trouble getting the second page done in a comic Im working on(composition-wise)
^^

emmav In reply to Outlawstar8489 [2008-08-03 22:28:33 +0000 UTC]

composition of comic pages is hard work. My advice is always - think like a film director. Stop seeing your page as a series of pictures and think of it as a storyboard...let the story guide the layout ^_^

Good luck!
