Description Coloured painting practice for up coming projects. I found this wonderful stock photo a long long time ago, by the marvelous

I was after something to practice colour painting with, and i thought this would be absolutely perfect.

Tried different paint strokes for a more painterly look, and used the paper feature in Corel Painter 11 to give a canvas effect. Not sure what i think of it.

Had trouble with background masking too. Think i need more practice with this feature....

I love this, mainly the headphones caught my attention <3
the brushy type strokes plus canvas effect really look great, idk about corel painter but maybe try layer masking the canvas so it doesnt apply to the model and only to the background? or make it more opaque on the model, great work though.

Thanks very much I love the headphones on it cause they stand out more than anything else. Its my favourite part of this piece And yeah i'm gonna try both ways of masking. Best way to solve a problem is to experiment, right? lol

Always gotta experiment, however I just did that in real life and it didn't turn out that well, however if you're just doing digital art you can fix it, friendships are harder to mend Dx

Thanks very much! I do prefer Corel for the majority of my work, but i like to sketch things out in Photoshop. I find it allows for better line control.

Hehe, thank you very much . I'm a joint Traditional and Digital artist, but prefer digital at the moment cause i can't afford traditional materials! Its nice to be able to mix the two together (sort of)
