For years Alister had faced ridicule from family and friends about his love of the Scene, Goth and Emo style of life and had been told repeatedly that that style of dress was a fad and would disappear like all other fads that had popped up and then disappeared over time.

Alister’s father however was from a long military line and was adamant that his son would be joining the Army to one, grow him as a person, two, honour the family name and history and three, remove those blasted temptations from him so he grows into a perfect army man.

Alister did not want this but his father was determined and his mother just went along with what his father said, so before long Alister was off to Sandhurst Military Academy to undergo full training and become an enlisted officer for her majesty’s armed forces.

Alister served numerous tours and managed to achieve medals and commendations for numerous feats of valour. He saved both civilian and his colleagues lives on multiple occasions but eventually he got an injury that led to his honourable discharge from the army and this led him back into civilian life.

His father by now was a widow as Alister’s mother had passed a few years earlier with a sudden illness, but his father still insisted Alister stay within the military circles and ignore the phase of wanting to be an emo/scene/goth. Alister by now had grown tired of his father’s views and just left him on his own. He finally grew a backbone and decided to live his life how he wanted.

Fast forward four years and Alice is still wearing her medals with pride. Her transition to an emo scene goth girl was a long process but one that she had the full backing of her army mates and her boyfriend. Her old platoon backed her even after her father tried to get her removed from the gallantry board and now, she has shown the world it wasn’t a phase, but an endgame to a long journey that gave her so much. She wouldn’t change it for the world.
