I'm gonna have to agree with CatWoman here. I like the idea of her having feelings for Spike. But he'd be totally oblivious to them. She would make an awesome bodyguard.

Spike marefriend, cause it looks like they are on a date. And if this is true I don't think she going to warm up to Twilight anytime soon

Royal Guard makes the most sense
with dreams of becoming Captain of the Guard
Starts as part of the Equestrian Air Force, originally assigned to Weather duty and stationed in Ponyville
after defending the town from numerous monster attacks from the Everfree Forest,
and saving the lives of many villagers, she finds herself getting promoted to the Wonderbolt Division.
After numerous airshows, and covert missions, she is promoted again
to the top secret division the Shadowbolts, commanded by Princess Luna herself.
Eventually finding herself transferred to Canterlot to serve as one of the few
personal guards and escorts to the Princesses, frequently assigned to accompany Princess Luna.

While serving the Princesses regularly, Dash meets and befriends Spike, quickly becoming best friends.
They frequently spend their leisure time together, usually playing games or watching movies,
to relax after their busy days spent in service to the crown.

When Twilight is found and welcomed to Canterlot as a new Princess,
Dash is promoted to Captain to serve as the head of Twilight's personal Guard Division.

She might dream of becoming a royal palace guard one day? It was really all I could think of.   And also, she might have secret feelings for Spike?
