Description
The concept of this character was derived from the influences of mermen. If there were to ever be battle soldier squids, this is what they'd look like.This illustration was made using a 0.7 mm mechanical pencil and Adobe Photoshop CS2.

ack, sorry. I was working and forgot this.
But the tentacles look alot better now. It's a bit confusing without color, but it looks alright.
To fix the staff, you need to see if the ends connect. To do this, on a new layer, make a thin line (with the line tool) overlapping the spear's top perfectly, going down to the opposite end. If the bottom line doesn't match up, it's off.
It could be that it's another hard thing to see, I could be wrong and it's perfect. I'm not sure. Since the staff is so close to the edge of the merman, I'm almost expected to see the staff peek out entirely.

Yeah, the ends on the spear do meet. I had made the spear in a different layer to begin with. So the ends had always met. Well, the spear is sort of thing, which does't make it look big from any angle, unless I were to zoom into the spear, which may look pretty humorous.

I like the muscles and teeth (and head). It's very intimidating. I'm glad I inspired ya. ;3
Tho, two little things are kinda flat. The tentacles all sprout at the same point with no varying thickness. Spread or bunch em, start them out fat till they thin to a point. The spear is also odd.
but, don't let that get ya, I really like this. It's cool.

I'm still working on him. Do you think I should add a place a spear-like weapon of some sort equipped on his back as a backup weapon? By the way, he's a "soldier" squid, not the leader. The leader, when I make him will have the strongest weapons and the best armor. Or at least, that's my plan.
