Mei-Ling Zhou from Overwatch!
There are a lot of things I like about this game, but one of my favorite things about it is how Blizzard has gone above and beyond with hiring an international VA cast to fit the very global cast of characters. Mei is voiced by a native Chinese VA (Zhang Yu) who speaks fluent Mandarin. Her authentic accent when speaking English and the handful of perfectly delivered Chinese phrases that she shouts in-game enriches her character far beyond the capacity of an ordinary English speaker.
And of course, Mei is only one example of a VA they used in the game who doesn’t speak English as their first language! Genji’s Japanese VA (Gaku Space), Mercy’s German VA (Lucie Pohl), Widowmaker’s French VA (Chloé Hollings), and Tracer’s British VA (Cara Theobold) all add something really special to the game. In addition to all of them, D.Va’s American VA (Charlet Chung) and Hanzo’s American VA (Paul Nakauchi) maintain native accents and nail their respective Korean and Japanese catchphrases!
I need to draw some Zenyatta next… another one of my personal favorites!
