Description A cosplay from 2007. Dizzy from Guilty Gear. Probably my best costume to date for overall look. Not so happy with the wig though! Those wings were light. but after a day of wearing them....they hurt bad!

Was it really uncomfortable wearing an outfit like that? Wasn't it embarrassing wearing a revealing an outfit like that? Plus you would most likely catch a cold, did you?
Don't get wrong, I like Guilty Gear, including Dizzy. Though I never played one yet I hope to get Accent Core Plus for either the Wii or PSP when it comes to Europe.

Oh god, dont get me started on that damn wig. Yaknow when you have to buy wigs online? and everything says its kanekleon, great quality and straight.

Well yeah, bought it, fairly expensive too and stupid me. was so busy until last minute to style it and found it was pretty shitty.

One day I'll cosplay her again, but with a much nicer wig, better poses too XD

Thanks though. I'm still very proud of this cosplay.

How did you go about creating the wings (if you don't mind sharing)?

No problem at all.
I created a frame using thin copper pipe which is called microbore in the UK its very thin. Bent it into shape with a hand pipe bender (looks like a huge spring!)
Then I hotglued (lots of hot glue) thick cardboard to the pipe and cut it into a vauge wing shape.
I then used thin box wood and cut out a small square, which I then attatched the wings to. I'm not sure what they are called but its like a curved double ended nail. Shaped like and N which fit around the pipe and got hammered into the wood.
I then glued thick foam (like the kind you get inside sofas!) to the wood which would be against my back.
bear in mind the wings are attached on the OTHER side, so not against your back.
Then I covered the foam with the same material I used to make Dizzy's dress...thing. (I used hot glue!)

Then I got some thick black elastic. Cut them to size and hot glued the hell out of them to stick them to the wood. These made the harness straps.

Try to glue them so they will stretch when you wear it but not too much. If its too slack though, the wings will drop too far down and back.

Then, buy as many feathers as you possibly can and be prepared for weeks of boringness, hotglueing each feather on. Start from the bottom of the wing and go upwards. If you look at a birds wing, then the top of the wing looks as though its the final layer, thats what your aiming for

Its also a good idea to paint the card or whatever you use as the shape to glue the feather to, the same colour as your feathers or close enough.

Needless to say it took a while, but the end result was worth it.

However, these wings are not collapsable....you cant take them apart...which is a HUGE drawback for transporting them. It does ensure that they are sturdy though, but of course you lose the ability to pack them down into a bag. So if you're going to a convention and you have a car with loads of room......thats ideal. But if your going on a train or the like.....its hell!.

Hope that helped. any questions?

Wow, that seems complicated! I've seen quite a few wings and they all look magnificent. Where would you buy feathers like that? All I see in craft stores are those generic, tiny, multi-colored ones.

I know what the whole space/transportation thing is like, my Liger Zero costume takes up a lot of space, too.

I'm not sure where you live but if you have the really big craft stored like hobbycraft then they sell packs of large feathers.

If you notice, at the top of the wings the feathers become smaller and more fluffy. For the white wings I used really big feathers, they would be about 8 inches long or more, then going slowly into smaller ones and then the smallest ones...kinda like those fluffy offcuts of feathers you get in packs of bigger ones?

You can also cut feathers down to size, or cut the bits you want off.

For the black wing I did the same except the smaller feathers were specialy ordered because they have a green "tonic" dye put on them to make them look more "green-black"

If you live in the UK a great place is hobbycraft. I've no idea if thats in any other country though.

Ebay works well too, but its a bit expensive. Also I do remember googling about feathers alot, but I dont remember the sites. I'm sure searches like "buy feathers" "feathers in bulk" and such would work though.

Hmmmm.....I cant quite remember but I'd say, about 1 month. most of that was spent on those wings. each feather was glued individualy...with hot glue....I still have scars >_< damn glue guns.

Thank you
