Trying to polish up my painting style.. And to create more appealing work plus a more consistent style. .__.Not 100% satisfied with this piece, but from now on I really want to put more work out there and be more active. I'm not patient enough to spend 100 hours
on every painting. >:I I'm planning to open commissions more frequently and to accept 2 or 3 small ones at a time, besides working on a bigger one.
And working on personal work/my projects inbetween.
I'm still in a fase where I am not that happy about my work overall, and there's this constant pressure of improving faster - the
biggest challenge will be to abandon that feeling for good. It's a slow process. ^^
Used one of my own photos as a ref. It's very much inspired by the calming feeling I experience whenever I'm in a forest, especially Estonian ones because you know..
I am a lil obsessed with teh country. .-.

I think you did good with this piece, my only real complaint is that it needs refinement. The reason being is the strokes are soft, though I find this isn't a complete turnoff. The softness does give it a certain feel, but if you want to improve this, I suggest to add a few lines (or inking). I think you did fine with the lighting and light spots, it makes the leaves look thick. I think you could also add some more variety of greens and browns here, they seem a tad flat.
The only other thing I wanna say is that I wish I could go to Estonia.

I agree with your points of advice, I will certainly keep
it in mind when working on my next work! I will have to find a balance between
the refined bits and the smoother bits in my paintings.
And I'd certainly recommend to visit Estonia! ^^

Tallinn for sure, and as for nature the entire country is full of forests so you can't miss that when you're there.
I'd certainly go to a swamp as well if I would have had the possibility. The forests in the south might be somewhat more tempting though.

This I have to say is a pretty nice step forwards in terms of adding more depth to your drawings.
The colours, and the distance of detail until it fades into the background keeps the eye busy, and adds a whole new layer of possibility in terms of character positioning that I don't often see in your drawings.
Whilst not polished, and heavily referenced, it does still show you can put together a basis that could potentially become a great drawing.
There's no doubt in my mind that you'll make plenty of progress in trying to satisfy your artistic cravings.

what I've been thinking about yup, still find it a bit challenging to
have a composition in which the character just fits the bg well.. .__.

Lol it makes things tough. I have forests around here, but they're weedy and stuff. I used to live in a place in Hungary that had remote cliff sides blanketed completely in blueberry plants, and massive pine forests that always made the air smell perfectly fresh. We lived up on the side of a mountain, but the hiking was always nice because it never got too hot and there were always cold streams along the way
