Description Patan, Kathmandu Valley
Nepal
2008

Patan is a small town in the Kathmandu Valley parts of which are UNESCO world heritage sites. It is SO beautiful it’s not even funny.

I spent an afternoon there during my visit to Nepal. More than the breathtaking architecture and the arts, it was the backstreets of the town which were of interest to me. And I wasn’t disappointed...

Patan being the stronghold of Nepal’s Buddhists, its colorful backstreets were full of novice monks hanging out and going on their daily business.

Furthermore, because it was Dassain festival (when people gamble and play games all over Nepal) most were involved in card and street games.

These shots (in chronological order) are some my favorites ones from that day.
