Description Star Wars is copyrighted and owned by George Lucas (no matter what one's negative opinion of him is. Damn selfish Bashers...)

This is the first in a series of posters i've had planned out in my head since Episode I was ANNOUNCED. the blueprints have existed in my head ever since, and have manifested in various drawings and other forms before finally reaching this Photoshop stage.

Now, some of you may be saying "this isn't a poster, it's a collage." it's both, really. it can be printed and hung up like a movie poster, it's got the cast and movie stuff at the bottom like a poster, so it's both. i tried to cram in as much relevance as possible, from deleted scenes, to cameos. for instance, above the handmaidens, you can see a cameo played by Nathan Hamill, Mark's son. and above him is Rick McCallum, the producer (keep insults to yourself), and above him is sound designer Ben Burtt. So yea, there's a LOT of hidden info in this baby, heh

NO prequel-bashing please. i CANNOT stress that enough.

also, many, many, MANY thanks to digital Star Wars fan artist Simon Zoltan for providing me with his beautiful movie logos for use for these posters!

IMPORTANT NOTICE, PLEASE READ -
the 2nd in this series of posters is currently in works. however, there's something i want you, either my fans or fans of Star Wars, to help me agree on:
I'd like to be able to include Expanded Universe material that wasn't in the movies. This might charm SOME fans, "oh i'd love to see such-and-such in there!", or it could piss off some fans who have what i've come to call Ostrich Mentality, "if you don't see it, it's not there". "oh that wasn't in the movie! why'd you put that there! waah wah!"

Thing's i'm considering including:
1. lighsaber colors characters have been known to have that weren't in the movies. examples: Aayla Secura's been known to use a pink lightsaber. Plo Koon's been known to use a yellow lightsaber. Adi Gallia's been known to use a red or orange lightsaber, Ki-Adi Mundi's been known to use a purple lightsaber (tho maybe pruple should be reserved for Mace Windu...)
2. characters and vehicles from The Clone Wars. examples: Ahsoka Tano, Asajj Ventress, Captain Rex, Cad Bane (if i can find or get an image to look close enough to live-action), the early Y-Wings...
3. characters from The Force Unleashed, to use in the Ep IV poster, since it's pretty close in the timeline. examples: Galen Marek (tho which version to use? Starkiller, or the clone in the upcoming sequel? or both?), Juno Eclipse, Shaak Ti, Mariss Brood.

(now, for these last two, you might be thinking "why don't you just do posters for The Clone Wars and The Force Unleashed? i COULD do that. but The Clone Wars is constantly growing, with at least 100 episodes planned. that's a LOT of material. and the Force Unleashed, i'll admit i haven't finished the first game, i've only ever played it at a friend's house. and with a sequel on the way, well, you know video games, it's POTENTIALLY growing.)

4. characters from books. examples: a model played Mara Jade in a trading card series, i'd love to be able to get that into the Ep VI poster, since she WAS at Jabba's Palace in disguise (no Ostrich Mentality, please). and i found an image of Prince Xizor that looks close enough to live-action that i could put it in the Ep V poster, since Shadows of the Empire was so closely linked to Ep V.

let me know what you guys think! i'm counting on your opinions!

well, not sure what it has to do with handmaidens. i mean, there's handmaidens IN it, so if u think that's enough...

RoverGirl In reply to EmSeeSquared [2011-11-06 00:25:31 +0000 UTC]

has expanded to include various Star Wars characters, not just handmaidens because the group was really struggling. Besides, it seems fair, Star Wars handmaidens first appeared in Episode One so it's fair to open it up a little.

Nice work!

And I'm with you on the Original Trilogy purists. These dumb fanboys were expecting WAY too much out of the Prequel Trilogy.

The Phantom Menace was how I was introduced to Star Wars. I saw it in theatres when I was 8, and at the time, I thought it was awesome. Looking back at it, it's easily the most flawed of the six movies, but I can't hate it at all. I appreciate it for what it is.

And I also find this "Lucas killed the franchise!" crap to be really stupid. Are they even aware that Lucas CREATED Star Wars in the first place?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EmSeeSquared In reply to TheKnightOfTheVoid [2011-06-11 08:04:23 +0000 UTC]

the problem is that many purists Lucas-bashers will insist that although Lucas created the idea of Star Wars, it was the input of Gary Kurtz, the music of John Williams, the direction of Irvan Kirshner (R.I.P.) in Empire, and the editing of Paul Hirsch and Richard Chew that actually made it so good. which is really grasping at straws, imo.

it also doesn't help that Red Letter Media's Harry S. Plinkett character and his infamous prequel reviews have actually gotten people who once kinda liked the prequels to actually throwing them out.

TheKnightOfTheVoid In reply to EmSeeSquared [2011-06-11 14:38:57 +0000 UTC]

It's the story and characters that matter the most. If the story and characters were no good, then the directing, editing, musical score, etc. wouldn't mean anything.

I don't know much about this Red Letter Media guy, but if people are willing to just totally change their opinions on movies because of him, and accept anything he says as fact, then that just shows how many people don't think for themselves.

he's quite a shocker of a reviewer. his prequel reviews alone are ridiculously in depth, and long as hell (70-90 mins!). he does the reviews as a character named Harry S. Plinkett, an aged psychotic who murdered his wife and kids and tortures women in his basement. He's the biggest movie nitpicker i have ever seen, demanding the utmost plausibility in films. watch at your own risk (risk of converting you to a hater, that is)

90 minutes?! Now THAT is pathetic...

yea. know what his initial review for the recent Star TREK film was?: a short film of a man dressed as the Star Trek poster (i'm dead serious) stalking a woman and raping her.

Thanks.

You know, now that I think about it, Red Letter Media reminds me of Aknotholeresident, the Sonic fanboy who complains about modern Sonic having green eyes.

Because as we all know, green eyes are the sign of the Devil.

[/sarcasm]

EmSeeSquared In reply to TheKnightOfTheVoid [2011-06-20 01:43:53 +0000 UTC]

Akotholeresident is a scary guy. fact: he has a diaper fetish. that's not a childish attack, that's a FACT.

but what separates "Harry s. Plinkett" from Aknotholeresident is that people actually find him ENTERTAINING o_O David Lindelof likes him, Simon Pegg likes him, even Roger Ebert enjoyed his Episode III review ><

I know...

At least Red Letter Media doesn't post videos of himself doing stuff like that, so I'll give him just that much credit.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EmSeeSquared In reply to TheKnightOfTheVoid [2011-06-20 02:46:47 +0000 UTC]

he doesn't, to my knowledge, post images of himself at all. it's just a voice and occasionally a hand in his reviews, tho there's a cartoon image of Harry S. Plinkett on his site

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheKnightOfTheVoid In reply to EmSeeSquared [2011-06-20 02:54:26 +0000 UTC]

Weird. So he wants to make people to hate certain sci-fi movies, yet he doesn't want anyone to know who he is?

That certainly raises some questions...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EmSeeSquared In reply to TheKnightOfTheVoid [2011-06-20 03:54:02 +0000 UTC]

i don't think he "wants to make people hate" anything. he takes sci fi movies he genuinely thinks are bad, and discusses every little detail he feels MAKES them bad. He says the Harry S. Plinkett character and his psychotic tendencies are necessary in order to to hold the viewers' attention. Lotta webhosts just do a narration and don't show their face, it's not uncommon. His first video was one reviewing Star Trek Generations, which he felt was a bad film and not worthy to be TNG's transition to the big screen, and made a whole video about it in order to share his thoughts, developing Harry S. Plinkett to keep things interesting. However, imo, it's much more interesting to watch Doug Walker the Nostalgia Critic rail on a film. When Plinkett does it, it's just insulting. I mean, this is a guy who took a widely-accepted star Trek film, First Contact, and tore it apart.

Btw, your profile says you yourself are a filmmaker. that's interesting. for a long time now i've been trying to put together my own web show; maybe you could be of help.

TheKnightOfTheVoid In reply to EmSeeSquared [2011-06-20 05:16:42 +0000 UTC]

Poor choice of words on my part. There's nothing wrong with stating one's own opinion, but I most certainly agree that nit-picking things to death is just idiotic. I have my own complaints with some movies, like Greedo shooting first in the special edition of A New Hope. I'll be the first one to argue that Han Solo being the only shooter made more sense (especially since Greedo misses at point-blank range), but I don't spend my time ranting about it.

He even nitpicked First Contact? For some reason, that doesn't surprise me...

So what it is you need help with for this web show, exactly?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EmSeeSquared In reply to TheKnightOfTheVoid [2011-06-20 05:29:35 +0000 UTC]

to the whole Greedo shooting first thing, i always say this: "blink and you'll miss it!"

well the main thing i need help with is with editing and special effects. i have Premiere and After effects, but i don't know how to USE them, is the problem.

my only critique would be that the sheer number of elements makes it a bit hard to get a clear idea of the whole picture, less is more

but you have impressive skill when it comes to the actual editing

EmSeeSquared In reply to Macavity1981 [2010-07-29 18:01:18 +0000 UTC]

thank you.

yea, i can see what you mean, but i really did want to fit in as much information as i could, that was always the plan

but you'll see as i come out with more that each poster will retain a certain formula:
1. duel below the title
2. main group (or what can be regarded as the main group in the prequels) above the credits
3. Republic/Empire in the upper right, Separatists/Rebels in the upper left

yes, when the Clone Wars multimedia project began, they based Asajj on concept art for II's villain. still, can't go wrong with Christopher Lee.

well, with fan approval, maybe i could include her in one of my upcoming posters, if i can find a real-enough-looking picture. What time frame would you say she appears in? Are her actions in any way related to the films?

theguywithasword In reply to EmSeeSquared [2010-07-21 00:38:10 +0000 UTC]

Very nice! And Kitster's in there - yay!

And yeah, the prequel/Jar Jar bashing bugs me, too. It's like...it's been ages, friends. Get over it. It's just easier to like certain parts of it rather than aggressively hate others. Personally, I love the whole thing since I grew up with the prequels, but I know most people didn't.
