Every Summer Solstice people around the known world gather to celebrate the Circle of Life with feasts, rituals and performances - cyr wheel dancers, whose art is inherently tied to the ancient holiday and its rites, are especially notable during festivities. One such dancer, young Aida, is said to have danced during a special Solstice which coincided with a full eclipse of the sun. She is said to have caught the eye of the sun god, who briefly mingled with people during the time sun was darkened. He whisked her away to his heavenly abode where she danced only for him and called her his Eclipse Butterfly. For her beautiful performance, she's been given a magical belt that allows her cyr wheel to glow like it's incandescent, and lift into the air - as if to commemorate the time the sun god lifted her to the skies.

Is any of this true? Nobody really knows - but she does have the magical belt and she does dance enchantingly.

The belt around Aida's waist allows her to turn her average cyr wheel dance into something spectacular - the cyr wheel starts to glow, charging up as she dances until she is able to lift it into the air with no external aid and perform aerial acrobatics, or even briefly levitate within the wheel.

Her logo is a stylized corona of the sun during an eclipse, with rays twining around the darkened disc, like many of elaborate, floaty skirts of dresses she wears during her performances.

I've been looking for something to draw and I've noticed the OOC Challenge posted on DA... it's not how I've planned to revive my dead gallery, but there you go.

Not my most elaborate or polished work, since I've had very little time left as I began drawing. Oh well - at this point it's more a matter 'I'll finish and post it damn it', without thinking much about the competition itself. The concept is inspired by roue cyr/aerial cyr wheel dancers I saw on Youtube once and was amazed at what I saw. Whoever thought that oversized metal hula-hoop and athletic people can turn into something so graceful! Humans can be so amazing.
