i was trying to understand why there was a line of sand going up through the cracks... and i saw the tire marks, perhaps the wiehgt of a vehicle pushed the hard sand dowm, and the soft sand came up. well anyway, great shot. i like it alot. the only negative is that you can see a lot of noise in it.

i see. i suppose i have a little better understanding now about the noise and how it relates to the photo, but not completely. i dont know what the function of 'salt' would be here, and though it seems plausible or appropriate enough on land what would it be suggestive of in the sky? (confusing enough on land considering that i dont know what it represents).

Salar do uyuni, bolivia.... probably one of the most amazing places i've came across. I've just been waiting for this place to hit DD, finally it did.. and this capture really made it justice. Awesome! Congratulation.

nothing to add, everything is so balanced, the silhoutte, the pattern of the sand, the grain which perfectly fits into this pic... maybe the horizont is a bit shifted ? propably only my imagination

wow
thats so cool, completely natural?
why is that there? is it just a path?
and how long does it go for, it seems forever in this photo

well its all hexigons and its scientificaly proven to be natural yet i dont know why in this partictular part its elevated???..., its technically not really a path and i dont know where it ends i did not walk far enough to find that out because i could not seee the end of it

emulsionglitch In reply to tin-can-man [2005-01-12 16:13:16 +0000 UTC]
yah it was endless i would imagine, it would have been neat to know where it ended but if i followed it with the car i might get lost in that vast sea of salt

I love the feeling of infinity in the picture, It almost feels like the trail is before us and we could walk upon it. I believe this creates an explorative feeling which increases the realism in the picture. And by realism I don't mean naturalism, I mean everyday life feelings and events, such as exploration. This is very well done, although I would (without knowing the outcome or if you've already tried) suggest the horizon line to be tilted a little bit (if possible). It, insteat of creating a line of focus on the figure, pulls the viewers eye away from it in a sense, and this I believe could be reversed.
Anyways, thank you for such a great image captured.
