same with me, and this is how I'm getting over my fear~
I did it myself, and to my surprise, it didn't hurt one bit
just use a butt ton of ice when it comes to almost coming through, that's when it starts bothering you

ohgod, I gave myself that in 8th grade
still, my mother didn't notice, but I got tired of it and took it off. But heed my warning, almost 4 and a half years later and it left a faint scar from where it was, then again, I pierced it with a thumb tack. Threading needles are best, and make sure you clean it before with either boiling water, or over a flame~
