Description
The original title was going to be "The passive diffusion of water through a selectively permeable bi-lipid cellular membrane", but it didn't fit :/.ANYWAY. Goddamn I'm no good for anything but half-assed coloring right now whaaaat the hell. I went to Anubis and I was like "Do you have any sketches I can ruin 8D" and she was like " Osmosis! 8D " AND SO SHE SHARED AND HERE HE IS IN ALL HIS BLUE AND GRAY GLORY. YAY Dammit I probably should have asked first before I uploaded this <__<;
I'm still fussing with a newish furring thing that I've been fooling around with for the past few things I've done. So far I think it looks too clumpy and not whispy enough but idk. The best part about these things is spamming all the useless brush shapes in the background at the very end LOL.
I've been listening to the Old Man remake by Redlight King for, like, hours now. Good damn song, bro.

Oooh, nice! The fur detail is really awesome. I love the background texture too.
My only critique is that the values on Osmosis are very dark compared to the BG. The values in a piece are actually -way- more important than details or even colors (because if the values are correct, then the colors can be almost anything and still look good). You can check your values by making a new empty layer at the very top, filling it with pure white or black, and then setting the layer on "saturation."

Yep! I absolutely agree with you! The entire concept of 'values' is SUPER duper new to me, and I usually get a Black and White Adjustment layer up to help me out but for some reason I forgot it this time <__<. But YES. I whipped out an Adjustment layer and I tooootally see that! There's also not as much contrast as I wanted, either <__<. Part of my problem is that I tend to make the character REALLY dark to make the fur stand out more, so I'm already a few steps back in that sense before I even start to shade or anything else.

Values can be such a pain in the butt sometimes. I can definitely feel you on the lack of contrast 'cause I have the same problem in my work too. >> *kicks contrast*
Have you tried out *TastesLikeAnya 's tutorial? Using a multiply layer to shade and then erasing from it to get the fur is actually waaaaaay more helpful than it would appear to be. I know you've seen it, I just don't know if you've tested it out yet.

Really $#!@ing amazing, wow. I think if you keep up with it, you'll go so far - you've come so far already! I love all the detail, especially when I smoosh my face right up against my screen. It looks like each and every strand of fur took an incredible amount of craft and care.
Did you do the background, too?

THAAAAANK YOU! I'm trying to make fur more.... like... intentional. Because I prefer to go LALALA and scribble it and it then looks... scribbly <__<. So I'm glad that comes though laaaa! <3333
And LOL I did do the background! It's seriously just a round gradient with excessive brush spamming. It takes, like, 5 minutes if that LOL.

I still... it looks clumpy to meeeee or something. You could SO do fur like this it's BEYOND easy to do. You just need to make the base dark enough that the fur pops out because of the huuuuge contrast. Which is why it's hard to do markings and things like that LOL

What an awesome looking creature! So soft an cuddly looking. Not sure if its a friendly mile its got there or i'm gonna eat ya kinda smile! Am I to guess it is some persons pet by the collar it has on? The fur and grass textures are most excellent! Love the original title you was gonna give it! You have such a lovely sense of humor!
