The Good Guys The Elements by Keita-Eiri Uesugi

Dark, water, earth, fire, light. It's been about two years I think, but I have finally redone my 5 Good Guys piece from like, 2006 or something ?

So, this is my first complete piece on deviantART. I promised more information on it when it was done, so I guess I can divulge a few details now; youhave waited long enough.

Kellent
He's the moody, angsty one which you can probably tell. He is of the dark alignment, and a summoner. The pouches on his outfit contain dust and fragments, essenses of animal and beasts that he uses to conjure up monsters, which of his lineage, can be pretty beastly. He is lone with Zelandros and a possessive son of a bitch.

Lye
The water adept. Lye is blind hence the bandages and see's at his best in the rain or when there is water running nearby. He was exiled and tossed into the sea from the top of the Realisian cliffs, yet he survived, accept his eyes. He joins the party later on in Book One. He's the loyal, quiet one, pretty wisdomful and all that jazz. Even if he looks grumpy, but that can be put down to old age.

Xelif
EARTH ! And the protagonist of course. I always imagined my knight in shining armor in fairytail land to look like this. He's come a long way, with the weight of the World on his shoulders. He begins the quest. He's quiet, yet knows how to be a hero... even if he doesn't want too.

Flame
Xelif's best friend for life and more, therefore, he is the quiet and stupid one, always happy and is always after the ladies, to which he always gets a slap in the face.

Zelandros
And finally, the healer. Life long partner being Kellent, they oppose eachother, but this healer can keep his man in place. Also he is the one that next to Xelif, grabs all the attention, and he plays with it. But he knows what he is good at, has skills that cannot be rivaled and at the end of the day, is one hell of a guy.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...

Faults with the piece. I don't exactly have programs to edit colours and stuff v.v;; And this was my first time printing line art to colour but I actually quite enjoyed that. I tried a few new skills with this, one being the use of gouache paint as inspired by *DazedPink which really gave the piece some interest as the background dulled it all down a bit (the original was bright and I've matured since then). I can safely say as well, that although my markers are still a bit poop, they have worked WONDERS and I have improved on my shading skills.

Things I like are the eyes and hair, what with the use of pencils over markers, brings in some interest. I also like how I finally have Zelandros' outfit perfect now, especially the marker work, as I found a wonderful combination at last to colour without it looking dodgy. Same for Lye's outfit as well, although I might make his coat paler. I adore the black in Kellent's hair, what with the tinge of blue to brighten it up, and I like how well Flame's hair has come out in it's ginger glory ! AND FINALLY, Zelandros' hair... I finally found a decent way to make his blonde... and it's perfect !!

So, things I am not keen on...

I screwed up Flame's necklace so I need to work on that. As well as that, the buttons on Xelif's and Lye's waistcoats bodged as well, and the belt details on some haven't come through well, so I need to figure a way of making that all work. Lye's hair didn't colour soooo well either v.v;; But I couldn't fix that sadly T^T

So, I have to draw my five ladies next, and my five bad guys... which is cool. Shall do it in this style as well, 'cos I really enjoyed doing this again. I might put the old and new pics next to eachother to see the improvment... shall I guys ?

However, I have to draw Girugamesh for Girugamesh first, as well as decorate the Union Jack flag for them when they come in less than two weeks. I also need to draw exist†trace for when my friends go to America to see them in April AND one of my friends has asked me to colour some line art, so there is that too. Busy busy ne v.v;;
