::This is the basic statement my series is based on::

My work is based on the resistance I feel of being torn between approaching an adult world and leaving the world of childhood. I chose to express these feelings through the recreation of a toy dolls life span in a young girls mind. Throughout my photographs I am referencing the story of the Velveteen Rabbit. Taking the doll from an object that is cherished to an object that is easily forgotten and eventually thrown away.
The process the mind of a human goes through intrigues me as an object, event, or person begins as new, colorful, and adventurous, then developing into boring, uninteresting, and annoying. My view of adulthood is the same. When I was a child I wished nothing more than to have a job, children, and a house. Now that I am on the brink of that decision I find myself falter and appreciate my childhood full of excitement, fantasy, and naivety instead. I also find myself being attracted to men who avoid real life situations such as never holding a job or a set schedule. I am equally attracted to dolls because of the childlike immortality a doll will always maintain.
