Description 'Were' Forms  - Coloured, This is what I consider to be a breakdown of how the Dark Gaian form for Sonic works, and a breakdown of how a Lycanthrope works in the Static Universe.

Sonic became a werehog when he was subjected to a cataclysmic misuse of Chaos Power that was used to break open Mobius' planetary crust which, in turn awoke Dark Gaia, the physical embodiment of Darkness. During Dark Gaia's first awakening process, Sonic underwent a beasitial transformation, darkening his fur and skin, altering his clothes and making his overal design look more fierce and intimidating. He only attains this form at night.

Sonic loses a lot of speed in this form, resorting to running like a dog would with all four limbs, however with the loss of his speed he gained a massive strength and durability increase, his arms could stretch and his hands could expand immensly to crush his enemies under them, he is able to take more damage then he normally could, rings seeming to not give him a temporary shield but instead rejuvinate him. If he defeats a spawn of Dark Gaia he can absorb their energy and grow his own powers, as well as store some within him to expend to temporarily give him even greater strength and durability.

This form also does have its drawbacks though, Sonic becoming more aggressive in this state as well as seeming to be weak or restrained when in close proximity to Dark Gaia, the being which this form was obtained, and eventaully Dark Gaia extracts their energy from Sonic to empower itself, removing the form permanently from the hedgehog and weakening him even more.

Since we only ever had one instance of a Dark Gaian Mobian (Sonic the 'Werehog') we cannot know much about how it affects others, it seems that the only process to acquire this form is to have it cursed upon you by Dark Gaia, as Sonic was indirectly responsible for awakening him and being tortured with the Chaos Emeralds, also Dark Gaia seems to be the only cure for this form as well, since they were shown to remove the form from Sonic at will.

Lycanthrope is the generic term for a being that transforms into a beast under the influence of lunar activity. It seems to be a magical transformation as most depictions of werewolves (as they are the most common lycan being) are humans that have been cursed or scratched by another werewolf (you could argue that it is some strain of bacteria or virus or something but I am dismissing that argument for this). Lycanthropic creatures while in their beast form are usually bigger, stronger, faster and more viscous than when they are in their normal state, if not undressed before their transformation they will usually outgrow and tear their clothes, sometimes leaving scraps of fabric on them as they roam around, reminding people of who they once were, stretchy or resilient clothing can obviously resist the tear and breakage but may end up destroyed by the now transformed beast who can't remember what clothing is.

In the Static Universe, Mobian Lycanthropes will transform into their Beast Form under every moon as they are already close to an animal to begin with, under a full moon they completely lose themselves to their lycan form. when transformed they become bigger, stronger, faster and more aggressive, losing most of their personality as their memories are buried behind their beasitial state, their fingers and toes grow sharp claws to tear into prey and their teeth become sharper. Their skin and fur darkens while they grow fur over most furless areas, their fur also becomes a lot less kept, being more brisk and fuzzy.

They are usually very aggressive towards everyone, but can sometimes remember loved ones if the bond is strong enough (such as maternal, paternal relationships, marital relationships and even sometimes friendly relationships) then they become more docile, like a semi untrained pet, if the person who has bonded with the lycanthrope shows dominance over them, then the lycanthrope will usually stay passive and behave at least towards friendly people.. However if the lycanthrope is able to gain dominance then they will be a lot more possessive over them and revert somewhat back to a beastial mindset.

As it is a magical transformation, there are often cures or spells to control them, magic to enable the lycan to regain control over themselves or control when they transform, usually the sorceror who placed the caused the lycanthropy is the only person that can cure them, but a stronger magician logically could overpower the original enchantment, and as with folklore, the magical claws and teeth of the lycanthrope can spread the curse in they can taint the blood of their prey without killing them, lycanthropes created this way are Betas to the original's Alpha and are obedient to their leader.. however kill the Alpha lycan and the Beta lycans are not cured.. just disarrayed.

Speaking of killing a lycan, any attempt can work, but the easiest way is with either the blade of a silver sword or the tip of a silver bullet, as it is deadly to them.

This was made as I have Volkan and Susie, who are Werewolves, but not Werehogs like Sonic was in Sonic Unleashed. Susie and Volkan are lycanthropic werewolves who were cursed as babies. I am just tired of having to explain it so if someone asks I will just link them this.

Understandable. It's different from what you would expect in a Sonic game

design wise it just looks strange, if they had gone full werewolf it would have worked better in my opinion, but I don't mind how they did it either
