Where was he?He couldn't remember.
It was dark, just barely light enough for him to see where he was going.
His foot hit something.
What was it?
A pumpkin?
Was that where he was?
A pumpkin patch?
Confusing, but he ventured forward.
What time was it anyways?
Daybreak?
Dusk?
He didn't know anymore, he just kept walking.
He tripped.
His foot tangled in the pumpkin vines under his feet.
He turned around, trying to untangle it.
It wasn't working.
Then he looked up.
A cross.
He didn't understand.
But he didn't want to either.
He wanted away.
Far away.
Then everything went black.
He didn't know how long.
A second.
A minute.
An hour.
A day.
A week.
A month.
Could have been a decade.
But he didn't know.
He just didn't want the darkness.
He felt pain.
The pain was tracing lines around his body.
Everywhere.
He couldn't escape it.
And when the darkness was gone, he was awake.
Or he thought he was.
He looked around.
He looked at himself.
Something was there.
A vine.
Thorn vines.
Traced all around his bare flesh.
He couldn't get rid of them either.
He wanted them gone.
But he couldn't.
All he had was a cross beside him.
Clothes and bandages as well.
He got dressed.
Covered them all up.
Bandages everywhere.
Hide the vines.
They were never there.
Get rid of them.
They still hurt.
They still stung.
He looked different.
Wait.
How did he even look before?
He didn't know.
He couldn't remember.
There was nothing he could do though.
All he could do was move on.
He wandered.
Wandered.
Stopped.
There was a town.
And that's where he began.
