'tis Sunflash and Skarlath from The Outcast of Redwall (Brian Jacques)...This took a good three hours to complete...

That was the worst part of the story... and his name was the first word in the actual story!
Ah well.
It's what you do to characters you can't decide on how they should live in the rest of the story

I always liked the great team these two made - and I can't help being a little mad at Mr Jacques for needlessly killing off that kestrel near the end... he's one of my favourite Redwall birds!

Yeah, he has a habit of killing off birds cos he has nothing else for them to do... there was Ovus and Bluddbead in Triss, and... Nutbeak, was it? In Marlfox. Then there was Pandion in High Rhulain...

I mean, I've got a family of eagle characters myself, Marquila, his wife Procella 'Galeforce' and their baby daughter Durungula 'Strongtal' (Being eagles, they use the Latin tongue as part of their lore)
I could not afford to kill of any of these characters.
The only character in my canon to die is Marquila's father, Marpenna, formally Laird of Hawkcrag, who fell bravely, saving a young kite from his tribe from enemy crows. Also, Marquila's younger brother, Aquilliam, lives on to rule Hawkcrag in their father's stead. (I know that's unusual, the younger son inheriting the title, but Marquila is an adventurer and didn't wish to be tied down, so he passed his birthright to his much-better-suited peaceloving brother)
As I say, even the minor of these characters are indispencible, because Marquila in particular is a close friend of my hare fursona, Danbuster. Also, since Marquila works in the RAF and Aquilliam is Laird of Hawkcrag, the hare and his friends also have powerful potential allies in case of danger. Even little Strongtal has some fighting strength in her!

Use a sharp pencil and do random pencil strokes in the direction the fur is meant to be going...
Feathers, can't really help you there cos I have no clue as to how I do them... different every time
