Description Again from Lynn Canyon Headwaters in North Vancouver.. we were able to get a bit closer to water level, where I took this shot and the next one I will be submitting. It is a really neat place, and very close to the city

what exactly is a long exposure?

leaving the shutter open for a long time, so that any movement turns blurry. it makes it hard during the day though, because it can overexpose the image, making everything white. night shots are usually better, where long exposures can give things like stars tails, because they move slowly

well, I've had my compact since early 2002, but I don't think I really started doing neat stuff until maybe 2003-4. I feel really confident with my shooting ability now, with my professional DSLR and 5 years behind me. If you are really interested though, you can learn something as easy as setting your shutter within days or weeks (just practice). definitely worth it, if you ask me.. and it seems you are interested, so all I can say is try!! Here is a 5 minute exposure looking at the stars (I just got my remote, so it will take a few months of good shooting to really know how long I need to leave it open for under set fstop and lighting conditions!) digital crap?? my cameras are both digital.. just good digital cameras! you want film then, I guess? Either way, I totally think you should get into it, because you definitely seem to have a love for it. money is usually the problem though, unfortunately..

wow, that is really exciting!! sucks about skiing.. but what an experience that would be. tell me more.. for school?

actually, its for bible school. Its called YWAM. I'm so excited because it will fullfill so many of my dreams in like, 5 months time. ^^
its a christian based program, so for 3-4 months, i learn about God and my relationship to him and basically surrender my life to him for that span of time. then we go to Japan or an area filled with Japanese culture (ie. Brazil) and do a missions trip. (so painting churches, coffee bars, evangelism, teaching english, etc.)
it will be a trip of a lifetime.
