I am now inspired to do a comedic piece because of this.Β A little girl skipping along with death on a leash, dragging behind her. She will be skipping joyfully down the street and death screaming "HELP MEEEE!" as he is being dragged against the sidewalk.... AM I A BAD PERSON?

There always seems to be a "darkness" linked to death and the like.
Death is a necessary and mandatory process to life.
I think people need to learn to embrace the element of "death" in a different wayΒ
Leaving the physical body is a transition. We become attached to this physical body and our existing lives so there is often much fear in the dying process.

I am not sure what to feel about this picture, but I guess that is part of what makes it true art. It's a beautiful painting, full of depth, but I am not agreeing with the message I immediately get from it, and the things I see and think of first.
My younger brother has leukaemia, and this girl makes me think of all the children I see all the time at the hospital. Bald, little beings, from babies to teenagers, all struggling to survive. And some don't. From what I know of, at least two kids has died in the half year my brother has been there. But some DO survive. My brother himself has just gotten the last chemo treatment, and is now simply waiting for the after-effects to go away, so that he can go back home. And I must say, while death is always around, close and watching, then there doesn't have to be a string making death inevitable.Β
Even so, I think it's a wonderful piece of art, and everyone seems to interpret it in different ways, which is simply amazing and quite an achievement if you ask me. Great work.

The spectre of death hovers over a little girl with cancer or some other life threatening condition. And there's death. Not only armed with the scythe of deathΒ it has the kid on a leash of mortality. A heartless reaper who's just doing it's job.

Chilling, sad... just... wow. Evokes such an amazing whirl of emotions. She looks so defeated, like she's been fighting for so long but has now just allowed death to creep closer. She's tired. Good grief the "Daily Deviation" quote was spot on, you could make quite a story out of this one picture. Incredible.

uuuu! I don't know if you realise but this picture might express a grimmer message than you originally intended.Β
Bald young girl for me represents an innocent patient with cancer, the grim reaper represents the terminal stage of that disease. But the girl is wearing a white dress, probably because she hoped she'd get better, or she was told everything was going to be fine, unfortunately everything turned out not to be fine. That's just my view on it.

I thought almost the same, I would only add a special attention to her dress, it seems like a ballet dress. Which may represent her dreams, every little girl plays as a ballerina or dream in becoming one. But this 'dream' and playful time will have to cease.

You haven't seen enough children with diseases then. I interpret it as an innocent girl who is going through cancer treatment and death is tugging on her, causing her reality to seem unreachable.

Yes, because she's going through traditional cancer treatments. But if her death is meant to be, even if it's caused by corrupt doctors, God's will be done.
