For me (big Denethor fan) it's nice to see, that there are actually people who try to depict him not as the evil madman he was in the movies but rather as a human being.

I think they didn't do the character of Denethor justice in the movies. That's why I took a reference picture of John Noble for this - I wanted to show him before his "madness".
Hope it worked.

Oh... I think I love you... if you don't mind me being so forward.. I wish my stuff looked like this... did it take you a long time to learn to draw like that? or does it come naturally?

BTW... I too think the portrayal of Denethor in the movie was a bit out there... but He was infact very mean to Faramir in the books as well and in any radio adaption and just any other version I have seen and heard. They just made him worse in the movie... I hated it when he almost made Faramir cry... I was like "Oh no... don't say that!" but alas... he did. I still felt a certain pitty for Denethor, though.

And this picture seems like he might not have been riddled with madness, there almost seems like a gentle undertone in his gaze... I need to watch you.

LOL... I see there are other Denethor fans indeed. I hated what they did to the character of Denethor in the movies... but you can't have everything, eh? I tried not to make him look mad, that's why I took a reference picture of John Noble himself and not a screencap of the movie.
BTW: I met John Noble at RingCon, he is such a gentle and wonderful man!

As for drawing... I've been drawing since my childhood, so I guess it is a constant and lifelong process of learning.

Yes, I met him at the RingCon in Germany. Well... to say "meet" is probably too much, he shook my hand twice, we exchanged a few words and he signed a print of my Steward-pic. But he's a really wonderful man, so much I can tell you! Very nice with the fans, he had a friendly word for everyone and shook everybody's hand at the autograph session! And I'm talking about hundreds and hundreds of people!
And I agree with you, he's a marvelous actor.

Looks so alive you could almost touch him, as always with your drawings.
He has a very determined look in his eyes. The definite leader, that guy. (for a while, at least... Until Aragron makes his arrival)
The tree is lovely rendered. Gotta love the Gondorian tree!

I use Canson paper. I really can recommend Canson, I tried different brands in the meantime, but I always return to Canson.
