Description Looks like Candy Cotton caught some young hooligans leaving graffiti.. do you think she'll keep the "sweet cop" attitude going?

This is *14-bis 's new Original character, Candy Cotton, a bunny cop in Cosmo City.
She's only new, but I couldn't help miss the oppurtunity to create fanart for one of my most favourite artists on deviantART. I admire his colouring and drawing skills, and I hope to match up to him some day It was recently his 40th, I'm only 16 now.. I'll have time

Critiques, I wouldn't mind! I am trying to improve, mainly in the anatomy department

This is absolutely gorgeous. I love the anatomy, it's so kickin'. Seriously, you've improved so much. I also love the atmosphere and the way you've colored it always is fantastic. ^^

Hell yes! Curvaceous gals is what 14-bis does best, I think trying to honour that was best rather then give him what I normally draw.

This is really good, even though I am not a fan/liker of this particular *ahem* genre/style of art. I love how you coloured it in and the lighting on her ears is really good. I think anatomy is about correct unless the original artist intended it to be different. I especially love how you did the background, I think it is very colourful and full of realistic textures! Lineart is VERY neat and orderly not too thick and too thin, very impressive overall my good friend. Keep up the good work!

Ehh, not anthros you're referring to, I'm assuming? P: I'm not a fan either no, but trying it once couldn't hurt!
Hmm, well I did look carefully at her reference.. I think the only fault people mentioned was the arms, I modified them to have a bit more muscle then the original reference (she's a copper, she has to have something!), but still kept their leaness, but people found this strange. She's also mean't to be extremely curvaceous, of course.

Thank you for commenting on the background - this was killer! I spent a lot of my time just choosing colours to compliment her, yet still be slightly futuristic (which I failed at here but I put too much into it to change it ).

And once again, thank you not only for the compliments, but the fine writ comment I look forward to these a lot.

No I'm not referring to anthros, but the sexualised anthros. I can imagine! I think you did very well on it, I think it makes her stand out and contrasts well with the colours she has. You're very welcome, I'm happy to hear that my comments are looked forward to. I only just realised that I missed a few words in my previous comment, haha I must be more careful nest time .

Ahh Well I don't draw much of either myself, if it at all to be honest. Ain't my thing either, no. But as I said earlier - good to try a bit of everything or anything, once in a while.
I'm glad you think so! Took a bit of OCD before I figured I was OK with it
Naw, it's right! As long as I get the message, I'm fine. I'm prone to mistakes too

This is really awesome! The coloring is amazing. The lighting looks really cool and makes great shadows and stuff, and I love all the textures you used for it! It looks awesome!
I think it's really cool how you can see the shadows of other characters in the window. That was a cool touch
On the one sleeve, it almost looks like it doesn't attach to the rest of the outfit.. maybe you could fix that somehow?
Overall, this looks great and I can'find much of anything to really critique!
Just a random question, but how often do you normally spend on your pictures? (Because I have learned today that I apparently work ridiculously slow compared to most people when it comes to art XD)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enigmatia In reply to Nikrain [2010-06-11 01:24:22 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
That window technique, I admittedly had to learn myself from making my new pages on BS, there were lots of shops there I'm sure other people have done it before though XD It helps though, because you can add more living entities, without having to try so hard.

Hmm, you mean her right sleeve? I'm not sure which one. I could fix it if you think it's worth it!

Aahh, gee! Depends! XD This one I spent on the most, most definitely, and that's 6 hours. Stuff I've done like "Saik Still Going Strong" and "Unterwasser" which are more detailed take me about 4-5 hours, but with previous works with lesser details, it took the same amount of time, I just wasn't too good at the time My more cell-shaded stuff take about 1-2 hours, depending on background and colouring complexity. A fair fraction of the time is spent on lineart too

Don't fret with your drawing speed compared to others, if you look closely, you can probably tell some people rushed it and just wanted something quick to submit for the day, people tend to do this P:

Nikrain In reply to enigmatia [2010-06-11 03:04:27 +0000 UTC]

No problem!

That's true! Shadows and little stuff like that are easy to draw, and make it look like there are actual living, breathing people around! XD

Really? Sheesh. I spend about 10 hours on everything, and they're not nearly as good as your stuff. But I'm sure it's just because I'm a lame-o beginner still and need a TON more practice.

And yeah, I'm not too worried. It's just hard for Art, because when we're suppossed to be working on one project, I'm the one that's still only halfway done with the previous one XD I just finished this one project we've been working on for the past 2 days literally JUST IN TIME to turn it in without it being late XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enigmatia In reply to Nikrain [2010-06-11 05:44:57 +0000 UTC]

10 hours, if I had that patience!
Do you just draw one picture, then work on it until you're satisfyed? The thing that's really got me improving, speed-wise espeically, is not to get too caught up on one picture, and just doing little sketches at a time, before getting onto bigger projects.
Also.. digital art is actually quite easy once you know the ropes XD Traditional stuff calls in for a bit more effort and time.

Oh, this thing happened to me too when we did surrealistic paintings! I realised though, that only me and my friend took so long because nobody else in our art class cared enough about Art to put their efforts into it. The time limit was really only catering to the majority of lazybutts in the class

Nikrain In reply to enigmatia [2010-06-14 01:34:32 +0000 UTC]

First off, I'm sorry I'm kinda late to responding to this I suck

Anyway, I do normally tend to work on one main picture at once. I don't like starting multiple projects at the same time only for the reason that I'd probably never get any of them done. XD But I do draw little sketches for fun when I don't feel like doing the other main project, those just don't turn out as good..
I would try digital art but I have no programs to use FAIL XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

enigmatia In reply to Nikrain [2010-06-14 09:10:02 +0000 UTC]

No it's fine! I was very late replying to you myself! I have been being late heaps lately ):

Oh, that's right! I mean so that you work on smaller drawings, finish them once you're confident with them, then with that confidence, move onto a big one. This is what I see when it comes to those people who submit a lot
But yeah, sketches are like that, but sketches are always modifiable! sometimes I come back to old ones and change outfits, for one, to make it better
That's alright, I never used to have them either There are a lot of people here who go by wonderful with just traditional medias. You may just see a lot of digital stuff in this fandom, because IZ is a digitally rendered cartoon. Don't ever think traditional can never match up, seriously girl! XD

By the way - loving that new icon ;D

Silver-Stitches [2010-06-07 17:05:37 +0000 UTC]

Ah, once again beautiful coloring and lineart.
Though, I do want to point out one small thing: With digitigrade legs, you have to pay a lot more attention to balance. Candy's right foot is turned a little too far inward. Hmm, I suck at explaining, eh heh. Uh, when drawing anthros, first try to see if you can make the same pose while standing high on your toes. So what I pretty much mean is that her right foot should be turned a little more outward.

But really, only furry obsessed people like me would notice something as small as that XD. Overall, it's very nice. I love it.

enigmatia In reply to Silver-Stitches [2010-06-11 05:49:28 +0000 UTC]

Thank you :3
Digitigrade - that was a new word for me XD
Oh no, I get what you mean! Her feet are turned in a bit too inward! I was really lamely trying to make a girly looking stance for her, normally done with feet on the ground.

Dah, I need your noticing ability! I really know next to nothing with drawing animals, I've just never ventured too far into that myself. Thank you so much!

Wow... You did amazing on this! The anatomy looks good from what I can see, except one little thing. The shoulders look a little too big.. It looks like she has a skinny body and buff on her upper arms. Other than that, it looks great!! ^^

enigmatia In reply to yourdarlingdawn [2010-06-11 01:27:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, you weren't the only one to say about those funny arms! Her original design wasn't very muscled at all, which I find a bit odd for her being a policebunny, so I did try to tone her up a bit but gosh, I don't think I got the structure covered yet at all, no I'll keep working on it however. Thank you for saying!

like for pose or design? If it's pose-wise, it's ok! Nobody can copyright a sitting pose or anything, just don't trace it or anything, draw from sight But if it's designs you are concerned of, try replacing the parts that look closely like the other with other parts.
