I felt in a major realistic/whatever colouring mood, but none of my sketches were worthy enough for the task so I snitched one from the #color-me-club .. and I'm glad I did!I had to take a look at some of *GENZOMAN for some technique inspiration.. he's my favourite colourist of all of dA to date! (Also, great artist
)This lineart belongs to ~shidabeeda , of her OC, Valencia. Only colours suggested where her hair, eyes and skin tone.. the rest was up to me. I hope you like it Shidabeeda!

Colouring something that's been foreshortened is certainly a fuzzy area for me I still need to work on, so I thank you again for this helpful hint

woah...your coloring is AMAZING. your highlights and shading are almost perfect! I would never have the patience to get that done right. The skin tone especially. It looks phenomenal!

Oh, this took far less time than expected, mainly because the BG was easily put in. I was thinking I might try a demo livestream thing to show how easy something like this is, because some think it's all just one layer and perfectly applied the first go - and damn well it's not like that for me!

Haha, I already was wondering whether you drew this...it is not very far away from your style, I have to say; it's more detailed and the hair looks different and I am sure there are some other small aspects...but just having a short look I would not be sure. But maybe that's the reason why you chose this one.
I wish I could draw you something really cool to colour...but...I don't know what. Any suggestion? Or a song? Anythin? Only if you like to, of course.
I should comment on what you did, no? Geeeez, I feel like not having written a serious, good comment in years, although that's definately not true.
First of all: I like the skin a lot. It looks highly realistic by the colours, the way it reflects the light and she shading, because you made it so soft. Maybe the legs look a little too shiny, but...I am not even sure about that.
The face's shading does not look as realistic as the rest. That's no shame, I think that's the most difficunt part - especially when the lineart is not completely realistic. The nose still looks a little flat; I would make the upper part of it a little darker, because here it seems to have the same "height" compared to the face. The lower side of the nose should look as if it would be a little closer to the viewer...
Well, yeah, as I said, this really is not easy.
I like that you can look though the cloth she wears over her arms, because...you made it look pretty perfect, which makes it look very interesting. The glasses also look really, really good, although you don't see them very fast.
The fur. You look at it and want to touch it, because you know how it must feel like - which is a compliment to the one who coloured it like that!
I also love the colours you chose, in particular the dark red. Such a very beautiful colour...!

Yeah, the face is more anime and the chin goes to to a point like the do, whereas I try to make it more real, or at least, like Western comics. But yes. I was wanting something to practice on because I'm lacking the confidence to try realistic things, and especially with no outlines.

Hmmm, I now look back and see how Barbie-dollish her skin looks.. it is an improvement since the last time I tried to digitally paint skin.
Aww, I made them that way because I know *GENZOMAN does it a little. Maybe it isn't for my style, since it is more plastic compared to his more softer style.
Ahh yeah, the face was horribly difficult to paint, and it was the first I did too. I kept it flattish like most anime, and when I went to the other parts and made it more dimensional.. yeah, it doesn't really match. I'll hope I've fixed the face problem with the digital painting I've just finished yesterday.

Thank you! I've been trying this technique for making skin have more lusture, by adding pink/orange and blue tones. It reall helps make it look more lively :3

I usually spend 1-2 hours, twice a day line-arting and colouring. That also goes along with my latest piece.
