At the expense of looking like a complete moron, did anyone ever explain why Saren had "horns" coming out on the sides of his head when the other turians don't?

I know the marauders have a similar look, and I remember Saren being quite biotic, so maybe it's just Reaper tech, but I was always curious how he looked so different than the other turians, yet nobody seemed to raise an eyebrow about it.

It's just a feature of the character. The developers wanted to make Saren did not like the other turian and decided to double the lateral growths, and lengthen the upper ridge (I read somewhere about it)
