Rosk (plural Roska)

Quick Species Info:

Colloquially referred to as “Sight-hounds,” Roska are believed to have their origins with the reclusive necromancers of Drosus, called the Oculari. They may be found in any region, though they are more common in areas where magic is or has been heavily practiced. It is believed that they were constructed as a means for the Oculari to observe the outside world, as well as track those individuals who are of particular interest to them. Every Rosk possesses a single large “eye,” typically made of stone or crystal, and while the precise mechanisms are unclear, it is capable of providing an extremely wide angle of vision, and may be used by an attuned “master” for the purpose of remote viewing.

Roska are arcane in nature, and thrive on magical energy. Their preferred prey are thus creatures that contain such energies, and they may continue to function for long periods of time on ambient magic alone in magic-rich areas. Their bodies are riddled with hollow cavities where mana may collect, with excess spilling out to create a smoke-like haze around them. No two roska are alike, each one being individually crafted; some magi have experimented with creating their own Roska through reverse-engineering captured Drosian specimens, with varying success. As constructed creatures, Roska are presently incapable of natural reproduction.
