Here are a few thoughts ||

Chara hated humanity
And it still hurts, and still takes a lot of time for her to get used to that there are some humans who are good. It's a long process and takes hard work. Chara is still rather impulsive when it comes to humanity. But she is working on it, even if sometimes she has to be held back, especially with the easily provoked anger...

why did chara fall?
Being the first of the humans who fell into the underground, Chara escaped a more abusive environment in attempt to end her existence , only to survive the fall. Calculating, bringing a knife in case she did survive, but the plans were obstructed by Asriel finding her. Chara kept hating humanity and could barely believe there was any good in the world, hence the bitter and impulsive flinches, especially when toriel or the dreemur family presents her with love for the first time in her life, just like when going to place a hand on her head she flinches and hunches over in fear.

Chara learned that monsters, truly weren't the monsters she was told. Instead, they were the first to let her feel what it's like to be loved and be in a family. Her impulsivity remains, being protective over the family she believes is the only good thing and the underground.

Chara was given the truth when humanity sealed the monsters underground. Which let her resent to humanity grow. Her best friend, the one who'm she only truly showed she'd do anything for, Asriel Dreemur, made Chara d e t e r m i n e d to help break the barrier and free the monsters. A nearly strong bond had grown between Chara and the monsters and in the end, Chara told plans to Asriel, that she would help break the barrier, however hiding the part in which Chara would give up her soul to free Asriel and the underground.
Of course, the plan seemed wonderful until Chara began to act strangely, such as laughing when Asgore consumed the buttercups, saying she was attempting to lighten up the mood. However it was rather that when Chara knew she could eat those slow killing buttercups in large quantities. Of course, in the end, it worked, with the sacrifice that Chara would be gone.

currently
Chara still has the large suspicions to any humans and will often show discontent. She is intimidating when told things she doesn't agree with or presented with things she simply dislikes. Chara still is overprotective over those few she truly cares for, although its a work in progress to be a bit more open, she still tries.
Some rude people may get a stab to the heart but that's a threat that actually can happen lol.
