Welcome welcome one and all to page 1!Not much going on here, other than me dabbling in a little Figure/Field (the usage of alternating values of black and white to denote foreground, middle ground, and background) as well as putting a bit more emphasis on developing the space that the characters occupy, other than just kinda having them float around in space as I often do.
Here is our introduction to the characters in the story: the surly brat is Ren, the lady with the staff is Hiira, the big guy with the club is Pere, and the little gal in the funky jester hat is Sissi.

Wow, what a sharp comic page. I'm especially impressed with your word bubbles. That dialogue definitely looks hand written.
My only complaint would be that I wish this page was tweaked a bit in a photo editing program to darken your blacks more. As it stands, they look rather faded due to the scan.

I read this through the Sacanime site (including your entry from last year, congratulations on that win btw^^), and I just have to say that you are very talented. Very unique and clean art style, and a good sense of storytelling. My only criticism would be that you put way too much panels on certain pages which makes it a bit cluttered, but other than that, I seriously believe you have the whole package.
I saw the list of winners for this year's Sacanime manga contest, and for some odd reason, I felt disappointed that you didn't place, and definitely thought you deserved a spot.
Keep up the good work, I'm definitely a new fan^^
