Description Nearly 7 hours worth of work.

Generic orc in a generic pose. Just wanted to do a full painting instead of waiting around for better ideas.

You'll get there.

Judging by your journal, you're right to think that traditional and digital share fundamentals and have a very nice transfer rate. Everything else is just learning how the mediums themselves work, but things such as colour, value, anatomy, perspective, composition, etc... are always a constant. As long as you keep learning them you'll do just fine.

Thanks for the reply. I'm trying my best, though I just got a new job and I'm gone 10 hours a day, so when I get home my motivation to do art rather than kick off my boots and lay down is a bit one-sided. :/ Though, I plan to flip that once I get more into the swing of the change in my schedule. Thanks for reading my journal and taking the time to respond.

It's mostly just understanding basic art theory. If you can paint well with traditional paints you can replicate it in photoshop.

Everything else is just using soft round brushes and a textured brush here and there.

Haha, for sure. I probably should have reduced the tension in his arms to make them more natural.

Haha, I think I'm calling it finished for what it is. I'm still trying to learn how to render without overdoing it and losing focal points.
