Description Tying off the loose ends of creation…

A digital photograph. No manipulations, other then slight filtering to remove grain and a bit of cropping. The hand is mine. Soft focus is intentional. Long exposure time in a dark room with a technique called light-painting and a small LED key-chain light (since people keep asking).

The full title was going to be: β€œThreads Of Light II: Tying Off Loose Ends 964”, but it cut me off, darn it. We really need longer titles here.

Thank you. I am honored. The hardest part about light painting is finding a place that is sufficiently free of even faint background lights for a really long exposure. That, and holding still for that long, when you are using your own hand, while moving the other one. *L*

lmao I bet. I don't think I could have stayed that still. And your right about finding a place...my first time out I thought I'd found the perfect outdoor location but I forgot about the moon...it was full and bright that night. lmao Oh well, live and learn.

*L* Yes, the moon is lovely, but a major interference factor for light painting, and astronomy.

Sorry for the long delay in responding, I have been ill.

As the description says, it is a technique called light painting. You set the camera for a long exposure in a dark room, and use a small moving light, in this case a single white keychain LED suspended on a thread, to create the lines and the lighting on the hand. The hard part, of course, is holding one hand still for that amount of time while moving the light with the other! *L*

So how do you get the light beam so small...??? I like the idea... and so you believe in Creationism..??? later...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Eolhin In reply to rjpulse [2005-03-02 05:22:54 +0000 UTC]

It is a very small key-chain light in motion that makes the lines. And it is more like I believe in magic.
