Description Still stuck on uintatheres, and here is the basal most member of the uintatheriidae. A very interesting genus showing the beginning of some more derived traits seen in later uintatherids, such as the lack of upper incisors and the beginning of the cranial protuberances the family is so well known for.

Thanks! The whole of dinocerata isn't as well depicted as I would like, trying to change that one step at a time lol

A loable purpose. I try to make the same with the meridiungulates.

Thanks! I love all of your meridiungulate work, often they're the best reconstructions on the internet of the more obscure genera.

Only the most awesome animals of the early Cenozoic!
Uintatheres were a family within the order dinocerata, which were some of the earliest mammalian herbivores, first evolving in the late paleocene from basal meridiungulates and lasting till the late eocene. The most famous are some of the most derived members like Uintatherium or Eobasilius.
I would invite you to look around my deviantart page as I have a lot of uintathere related art and literature on there, with more likely to come in the future.

I agree! They're such interesting animals it's a shame they're not in the public eye more often.
