Little Snow Feather's Mom and Dad, proud Pegasi, always dreamed of that one day where their little filly would learn to fly. However, she was born a weak and sickly foal. She had to be monitored in the hospital for at least two days before she could go to her new home. Her worried and distraught parents stayed in the hospital during this time, not wanting to leave their child alone. Once she was deemed healthy enough, her parents brought her into their caring home. Feather had frequent visits to the hospital, for various illnesses and the like. Even so, she was still a very happy and lovable little filly.

Once she reached the age to learn how to fly, Feather's parents were ready to teach her. The young filly couldn't quite get it, she'd hover in the air for a few seconds, and then plop onto the ground. " It's okay, " her Father would assure his worried wife. " She'll probably be a late bloomer. "

That wasn't the case, unfortunately. As she grew older, she still wasn't able to fly. And her wings stayed the same size they were when she was little. The school-foals laughed at her mercilessly, for being unable to fly and for having tiny wings. After consulting the doctor, it turned out she had a rare wing defect that would stunt a Pegasi's wing growth, thus making them useless for flying. Her parents were crushed, there was nothing they could do for their poor baby Snow Feather. ... Feather was quite upset at first, as she was at her limit with all the bullying. She wanted to have normal wings, just like the rest of her classmates. She wanted to learn how to fly like her Mama and Papa did. Like the rest of the Pegasi knew how.

The news of never being able to fly broke the cheerful filly for awhile. She still got bullied in school, but her teachers tried to help her. The students never listened, and just continued teasing her. Most days she would return home sobbing, and some days she would be picked up early from having nervous breakdowns.

But one day, things were different. A new student had joined the school. ... A small, grey and blonde Pegasus. Snow Feather hadn't paid much attention to the new kid until she saw a fight in the hallway. The same bullies that had bothered her were now bothering this new girl.

" Haha, haha!! Look at your stupid eyes! You're so ugly! " They said, pushing the defenseless filly to the ground. Feather, not wanting to get in any conflict, alerted a nearby teacher to get the bullies away. Once they were gone, she went to see if the new filly was okay.

Much to her surprise, she saw what the bullies were laughing about.

The Pegasus filly had crossed eyes. ... A defect. They were laughing at her because she was different than everypony else, just like they had bullied her for her wings.

With a soft smile, Feather helped the sobbing Pegasus to her hooves and brought her to her own locker. Feather had stocked up on a few medical supplies, thanks to the stronger bullies beating her up sometimes. She took care of and bandaged the other filly's wounds, and told her " It's okay, I'm different too. But it's not bad to be different... "

And as the small Pegasi thanked her, a bright glow flashed on Snow Feather's flank--Her cutie mark.

From that day forth, Snow Feather didn't let anyone bother her about her small wings. She wanted to help other foals like her and her new friend feel better about their 'differences'. And that's why she works at the Hospital today, to do just that.
