Tater
Oh, what joy! Tater's favorite time of year was coming around the corner. Spring! Everything was green and the atmosphere outside held a warm and upbeat tune. The baby animals would be coming out soon and Tater loved to watch them from afar-- their little spindly legs and twitchy tails brought him great wonder and amusement. His girl shared his joyous adoration of spring and on this particular day, Rylie and her parents had decided to take him to a meadow in hopes that they could find lucky clovers. Rylie explained: 'They have four leaves instead of three and they're supposed to bring you good luck!'
With her determined explanation, Tater was on the lookout for anything that had more than 3 leaves. He had to make his girl happy and bring her good luck!
Once they arrived, the brown pit bull had his snout to the ground as if he could smell which clovers had 4 fronds instead of 3.
"Don't worry Rylie, I'll find you the biggest and best lucky clover you've ever seen!" he called out behind him as he bounded into the foliage.
He made multiple trips, bringing back a flower with six petals! If four was good, six must be spectacular! While grateful, Rylie gave him a loving pat and told him it wasn't quite what she was looking for, sticking the flower in her hair...
No matter! The bully dog was determined to bring his girl cheer and delight.
He returned to his hunt, proceeding to bring back other plants with four or more petals/leaves to see if he had accomplished his serious task. Nada.
Tater was growing very warm and his girl and family had sat down in the meadow to converse calmly. He panted, sitting down and gazing out into the rolling hills of endless clovers. The brown canine was growing a bit discouraged. Maybe a nice roll in the grass would give him a new perspective! He plopped on the ground and rolled around with a elated 'woof', flattening the three-leaf clovers beneath him. Eventually he stopped, panting, and looked back at his girl. She was upside down! As he went to roll onto his belly, he saw it!
A four-leafed clover!
Tater quickly flopped back onto his belly, keeping his gaze locked on the key to his girl's happiness. His butt wiggled with delight as he pounced towards it. He sniffed it gently, his wet nose faintly brushing up against the wonderful plant. He gently plucked it from the ground and bounded off towards his girl with his tail wagging in a helicopter motion. He was almost there-- but just as he thought he was going to complete his mission, the small clover slipped away from his massive teeth.
NO!!!
His girl noticed the look of dissapointment on his face and his frantic searching and joined him on her hands and knees, searching for whatever precious item he had dropped. It blended in with the rest of the clovers that plagued the ground with their three-leaf-edness. But luckily his girl was very smart and had a keen eye. She swiped it from the ground and held it up to the sky in victory, wrapping her arm around Tater's thick neck.
"You did it, boy! Great work," she exclaimed with pride, planting a big kiss on his wrinkly and slightly drool-dampened cheek.
I did it! I made her happy!
I'm really trying to be more active with my Tate-boy so I decided to work on a cute, little relaxed piece for this biweekly prompt. I have a lot of fun drawing him in this pose and painting the BG with all the flowers and clover-texture. A new experience and a lot of fun!
Enjoy
