oh well.. only 6th place.. I hoped for better. BUT this entry also received the Judges Choice!! And that is amazing!!
finally! I did it! the first entry is finished!
I cant tell you how long I was sitting on this damn entry.. I must say I am very pleased with the shading and the foreground.. but the rest of the bg.. meh.. changed it a couple of times but then I lost the motivation
and since there are two more entries to go I had to stop struggling and just uploading it! so pls ignore the ugly people in the background and enjoy Arti and Nico being handsome as usual

I drew the shadows BEFORE i added the lense flare.. and it was pretty hard to arrange it right so the shadows wouldn't look awkward.. ;'D
next time I have to make a lil sketch to remind me from where the sun is supposed to shine ^.^

yush, one of my tips for myself is "draw all of the picture at once" like, don't get sidetracked focusing on one specific part, keep the whole thing in mind from the beginning. it helps with centering and also helps with thinking about what the light will be doing, etc .u. and ur most welcome ♥

this is an interesting way of doing it.. I mostly start with the lines of rider and horse. then I sketch the background and then I begin to color..
but maybe I'l try your way of doing it at some point. Just to try something new!

well i suppose digital isn't the same as on paper cuz u can easily move stuff around where as on paper u gotta think in advance about what's going to be in front of what before u draw it or there will be tons of erasing

Altmuehl Int. 3DE - RESULTSThe judging is finally done. I've read your stories, listened to your music, looked at every entry twice or more to make sure this would judged as fair as I can.
At first, thank you all so much for participating! This was such a big event as 53 entries and 33 pre-registered pairs prove (if I counted that right)! I'm actually a bit sad that it's over now, since I put so much effort in it, but if you like I will host this again in 2 or 3 years c: Or do you want another discipline? Just let me know what you think about this.

I LOVE the BG! The twisted dressage fence as well as the sponsors being posted in the BG are awesome! I especially like how you showed some random people and a building in the BG! The depth of it is very well done! Now the pose is awesome! You don't see too many dressage entries with the salute for their image! The flowers on the other side of the fence are very well done! The tack and rider and shading on the horse are amazing! I also really like the lens flare. :3

hehe that ray of sunshine is beautiful isn't it? I work with PS and there's a section called "filter" (i have the german one, don't know what its called in American) there I can choose between different filters. one of them is called "render filter" and there I can choose this effect. If I translate it it would be called "aperture" or something like that? try to search in the "filter" section for it!
if you cant find it, tell me and I will try to help you in another way

And I love the posture of both rider and horse and the horse's color is really beautiful and great shading there as well!#
Though you traced it, I feel like the hind legs, at least the left one, looks odd. I think the hoof should be a bit more forrward, but well.
