Could you stand up for the one you love the most and live even if that someone should perish?

Could you continue to seek the truth, to seek for the answers that could free your soul?

I Did. To honor the dead, to honor the memory of my beloved wife and to honor the most cherished person I WILL."

This is my submission for the Club Kenshin contest. It's not much and to be honest I'm not all that interested in the prizes, but this gave me an excuse to draw Kenshin again.

I had a lot of ideas originally but I settled on this one. I wanted to try fitting more characters in there, like Sanosuke and Yahiko and even Shishio, but they wouldn't all fit. In the end I settled for these four. Every character, whether protagonist or antagonist played a key roll in the story, but somehow I think Enishi and Kurogasa had the largest affect. Kurogasa, in my opinion, is the one who helped strengthen the growing bond between Kenshin and Kaoru. And Enishi absolutely solidified it. He proved that Kaoru was a grown woman and could handle Kenshin's ghosts.

But the picture wouldn't be complete without Tomoe. She and Kaoru are at the front because they are the two people who, above all else, are at the forefront of Kenshin's life. They are his soul, his reason for being. He loves them both but I firmly believe that he has come to love Kaoru more. She may not be as elegant a woman as Tomoe but she has her own gentle or perhaps fierce beauty, a courageous heart and a kind of naive innocence Kenshin is endeared to.

But . . . yeah. I could go on and on but it's late here and I need to move on. I'm not sure which submission folder I should place this under though. I was originally going to leave it as just a sketch but Paranoid Duckie's submission was so cool I figured I'd do a 'solid' category image out of this but still keep it as a sketch, of sorts.

I hope everyone enjoys it. And I hope it qualifies for the idea of 'courage.'
