prologue

Sometimes I think to myself, how can I break free from this life that I’ve created for myself? Never did I actually think that I will find one.

Beginning

It all started one day as I was working back from work. It’s not a long walk, roughly 10 minutes at a good pace. This time however, I was walking very slowly, as though I was dead, which was exactly how I felt inside. There was no one I was looking forward to seeing, at work I’ve felt like a zombie and my best friend has moved to another country.
I felt trapped, you must know how it is. When you feel like you’re inside a cage too large for you to even see where it starts or where it ends. And nothing around you seems to be able to make you smile.
That was how I felt and this was what I was thinking about so deeply as I was walking. I didn’t notice where I was going at all, I wouldn’t be surprised if I stepped on some dog crap. Not that is really matters, since one thing that I know that I didn’t miss was red light. I just started walking on the highway without noticing all of the noise that the cars were making, it was rush hour too.
A car, a ford I think hit me at about 70km/h. I remember the sudden pain of being hit, it didn’t really bother me though since it was all so fast and sudden. I also remember flying across the road, not sure how far but it was quite a distance. The last thing I remember was seeing the road approaching me really fast. I think that that’s when I lost my consciousness.

It seemed so slow, as if I was inside some sort of bubble where time barely moved. Outside everything was moving so fast that I couldn’t have followed it even if I was aware enough to notice any of it

Awakening

When I was little there was this garden I liked to go to. It was really big and had a lot of green in it and a small river passing in it and people were always fishing there. I always wanted to fish too, but I’ve never got to it. It’s one of my favourite memories.

It was weird, I was there, even though it was after the car had hit me. They say that when you die your whole like flash before your eyes and in no specific order. Was this is? Was I dying? I really didn’t know.
What I was doing, was walking and crying. I remembered this, it was when I’ve lost my parents. I wandered alone for nearly an hour.
Then a young woman approached me, she looked very nice and motherly. She asked me what was wrong. I told her that I was lost, then she smiled and said that she would help me find them. She gave me some juice and I drank it, I wasn’t crying anymore.
We walked for a few minutes, trying to find my parents and then I stumbled on a rock and fell down. I expected her to help me up, but she didn’t. I looked up and all of a sudden that woman was Katrina, my best friend. I didn’t know her back then, so naturally I’ve got confused. Then she turned around, I tried to get back up but every time I tried to stand I helplessly fell down, like my legs stopped working. She started to walk away and I really wanted to follow her, but I couldn’t get up no matter how hard I tried.
Then I noticed it was dark and everything got covered in thick mist. Katrina slowly disappeared in it and I felt completely helpless. I looked up at the sky and, somehow I managed to see it through the mist. It was pitch black, no city lights, no stars. The only thing I could see was the moon, it was very thin and it was as red as blood.
I finally managed to get up, looking at the moon the whole time, without even blinking. Then I started coughing real bad. I couldn’t stop, I couldn’t even breathe. Then I choked my own heart out.
I tried to scream, but no voice would come out of my throat.

Then I suddenly saw a bright white light and I felt like my body was alright again.
