Fantastic!! Do you first paint in b&w and put the color on after? Or do you paint with colors from the beginning?

Not that this is a speed painting anymore, but tried to do some speed paintings myself. Take a look in my gallery when you got time

Well done!! You've very nicely created such an inspiring, mysterious place... so much life and activity. This piece really captures my imagination and makes me wonder how different things could really be if the world had taken another path...
Heavy sense of the Myst game 'URU'.

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Paints a nice mood/setting, and that you achieved with very little time is also great.

I won't bore you with more cries for help, but I hope to achieve that a level of speed painting and artistic creativity you have.

This is probably one of my favourites from your gallery.

do you prefer a hard edged brush at a low opacity for your rigid structures?
I too, am like Ov3RMinD. I have very great difficulty painting anything but nebula.

I Would love to develop skills with painting rigid bodies such as rocks and architecture. Your paintings are awesome.

thanx dayfid..as you said i prefer hard edges but low opacity brushes for solid structures..for improving your solid painting skills ,you can begin with simple things like pencil or apple(photoreferanced)....then make the objects bigger and bigger..last one is huge rocks and structures..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dayfid In reply to erenarik [2007-07-16 19:26:01 +0000 UTC]

that makes so much sense. start out small - using photorefs and then work up to bigger solid edged objects.

When you practice with photoreferences digitally, such as using an image of an apple, do you suggest going by sight - switching back and forth from image to painting, or ?

I appreciate your tips. I would love, absolutely love, to expand my painting skills.

One other thing, do you speed paint?

danke i checked you gallery..i think you are very promised with color using..for imroving, you can register lots of useful forums like sijun artsdojo conceptart cgtalk...if you are not good enough about specific things(rocks, mountains) first you must work with photoreferenced (for have a good palette of colours and visualising the forms, shapes) and also there are lots of tutorials one net..
