I adore hollyhocks. I once had very many pink ones like this but they all fell down in the wind and rain.

thereof, we once had a "real wood". But there were fewer from year to year. Last year there were only about 10 pieces.

Around five years ago we bought some very dark red hollyhocks. They came every year but the roots got so big it was a problem... so my husband removed them.
As we are getting old we don't put many flowers in the garden. We have grass and many bushes, some with spring flowers, or red berries. Many are conifers so the garden is always green.
We also have a long hedge of thuyas.
It's good to have a garden.
