Devastator is a first tech-three firearm created with tech-two industry. M5A1 is simple and easy-to repair firearm. Also, small number of controls and sensors make Devastator easier to operate for a novice. High firepower allows M5A1 to pierce at least 4 cm titanium alloy armorplate and to disrupt 80 KJ energy sheild.

So it works like Trandoshan weapons from Star Wars?  With a charge particle held in casing and loaded and fired similar to chemically-propelled projectile weapons?  Looks pretty cool, too.  Actually this reminds me of Tau weapons from Warhammer 40K.  Unlike what most Tau players (who apparently don't read their own fluff) think, Tau weapons are particle projectors.  Each of the two barrels accelerates a single charged particle.  This weapon you drew looks like a single-barreled version that uses charged particles held in casings instead of the particles being held in magazines and then drawn out and charged individually (which the Tau pulse weapons do).  Very interesting!

It's more like Tau weapon, yes

Not really one for energy weapons so much as kinetic like your railguns, but this thing is so cool looking. I like the analogue dials, I'm not much of a fan of digital, analogue is cooler.

Though a little nitpick, you misspelled "shield" in the description. "and to disrupt 80 KJ energy sheild."

Otherwise, looks great. Though the M-150 Wolf and Atomic Seven are my favourites because railguns, and British Military Industries logo.

Not on a starship. I think it would pierce the inside hull.

If it's a blaster, why does it need catridges?

Very nice, I can see this as a excellent in ship and security weapon. A grenade launcher, say M-203 style in 30mm, would add firepower and increase versatility.

Nice design; The render looks a bit blurred; did you do that on purpose? I think the chrome-looking bolts are a bit over the top; better use the same color as you used for the yellowish metal parts. Also; why did you use another texture for the mag? I think your choice for the black/grey texture on the rail/grip would also do justice on the mag. I also would like to see some detail on the handgrip, it's to plain now. Again I like the design - you did a good job overall! Keep up the good work

Ergrassa In reply to RobSlijkhuis [2011-03-01 21:20:59 +0000 UTC]

Well, I wanted to dedicate a mag as different part (as STANAG or something like)

Very nice. I love the textures, I think the texture on the magazine is the weakest part of the piece though. (That's it for artistic critique) For weapon design, the readouts probably need to be be improved. Readable from the rear of the weapon or at least at slight angled glance.

I like this better than the G11. Probably because there's more to it and the...capabilities are more effective.

Great job!
