Description Welcome to the final resting place of RMS Titanic. She lies in two major sections (bow and stern.) In 12.000 ft (2 and a half miles) of freezing north Atlantic sea. She has been visited numerous times since her discovery in 1985 and meticulously studied to determine the chain of events that led to the greatest maritime catastrophe in history.

The subject and her tragedy in 1912 have been one of several historical incidents that I have followed closely since the 1960s. It is a grave, and like most it will slowly fritter away to nothing, leaving a reddish spot on the site within a century or so. The positioning of the ship's bow and the fallen mast add to the melancholy, and the brownish red tint reminds us that the paint is going away (if not gone). Should we raise her or leave her? I can't really say. It is a massive grave site for 1,500 souls, but it is also the most famous ship in modern history (only Noah's Ark possibly rivals it). To lift it would probably be seen as desecrating the memory of the dead, but nature by destroying the ship slowly is doing the same thing. It is too far down to put some protection around the boat that the pressure of the 12,000 plus feet would not crush. Possibly if we raised the bow to the surface carefully and preserved it like the Mary Rose or the turret of the Monitor it can be seen in the future. But it does not seem likely this will ever happen - as likely as our rebuilding the Colossus of Rhodes or Temple of Diana. Keep photographing or drawing it then, so we never forget her.

I love the way the picture presents itself as a whole. The way the colours contrast with the background gives it sad atmosphere to it and it creates an absolute maelstrom of emotions in my soul. Furthermore, I grew up infatuated about the ship and its' disaster, so I cannot express how well I think you've done with this perfect piece of art. A fitting tribute to the Queen of the Seas and those who died with her that tragic April night. Simply well done! You are a brilliant artist and I would be glad to see more Titanic pieces from you! Marvellous work all round. You should be proud! 😀

Wonderfully made, and the colouring and lights work and shading are accurate and just great. But it gives me a strong claustrophobic feeling. Which is, in fact, a great thing for you to hear. It means you made it right. You succeeded.

What an interesting idea---without all that water crushing, rusting and blocking light, this is what's left.
Of course I have the urge to go all Charlton Heston at the end of "Planet of the Apes", but this is very cool.
