Right in the beginning on dA I've experimented a lot with textures - you'll find some on the last page of my 'Featured' gallery. I liked old paper styles particularly. I've moved to more documentary subjects and styles now (architecture, Street), but I may use textures for special projects. It's fun.

The Singing Butler? To be honest, I didn't know him, but I like what he's doing. And I would like what he's earning too.

After taking that picture, I found out that HCB shot a famous portrait of Jean-Paul Sartre only a few metres from that spot. So I was walking in famous footsteps, although the framing was very different.

Hmmm, it was sunny when my wife and I crossed that bridge... We got the rainy weather pictures in Berlin though...coming soon.

I look forward to those. I've never been there, but to me Berlin seems an interesting place.

Between the two, I still like Berlin better, but I'm biased since I kinda speak the language...

EricForFriends In reply to HerrDrayer [2008-11-25 20:53:08 +0000 UTC]

Not everyone speaks French, and even less people speak the language of the Parisians.

I haven't seen Berlin yet, but it's high on my list.

HerrDrayer In reply to EricForFriends [2008-11-26 07:38:16 +0000 UTC]

There are plenty of English speakers in West Berlin, but most native East Berliners speak better Russian... Overall though, you don't need to speak much if any German to get around Berlin.

EricForFriends In reply to HerrDrayer [2008-11-26 07:41:40 +0000 UTC]

The lowest grades I ever got in school were for German, but thankfully I caught up. Especially as my Russian isn't as good as I'd like, to put it mildly.

HerrDrayer In reply to EricForFriends [2008-11-26 07:46:13 +0000 UTC]

LOL. I can only speak about 3 words of Russian, so I'll stick with German for now.

Very nice street photo, Eric. I think the people in it make for the street category more than the architecture in my opinion, despite that being a stunning place.
You also chose the title according to that.

Wonderfull
A bit shaky, but somehow that really fits in here.

I like the belltower of Saint Germain sticking out behind the Institut de France as well...and the chimneys.

I just had an amazing coincidence: I opened a kind of botanic encyclopedia, more than 1000 big pages and the entry on which my eyes fell was ... Encephalartos. Weird.

shenanigan87 [2008-11-21 13:58:48 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, it does have a vintage style to it, along with the typical atmosphere of a rainy day, conveyed by the umbrellas and the clearly wet surrounding. Though I think it could have been a tad sharper, but that's just my taste I guess

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EricForFriends In reply to shenanigan87 [2008-11-21 16:48:41 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I'd like it sharper too. I've been toying with various filters, but it would need some masking too.
