I still want you to change,
and I still want to ask you,

The boy sits at a crossroads. Does he choose the bitter wasteland of the past or the limitless ocean of the future? Time has not been kind, and life bears no promises.
The idle demon waits, having all the time in the world. The roots have grown wild, and the gears have rusted with indesision. The stump lays barren, lifeless. Until a desision is made, nothing will grow. If he choses winter, nothing new will grow, but the roots may endure. Choose to brave the ocean, and he may never find another shore. Β But to linger any longer only benefits the demon, who relishes in the rotting of the wood, in the stagnation of the soul.
Maybe the boy will sail away, find a new shore, plant a new tree, a fresh start. For life as he knew it has been cut down. There is nothing for him here. He studies his map in silence, while his demon awaits his choice.
