Description IRON MAN
In the comics, Iron Man was always sort of a second level character, never to reach the heights of Spider-Man, the Hulk, or the X-Men. And then the movies came along and lightning struck! Robert Downey Jr. was the perfect guy to embody the more fun (though it also included the serious alcoholic storyline) Tony Stark of the David Michelinie/John Romita Jr./Bob Layton era. Originally, writer/creator Stan Lee may have been modeled Stark after Howard Hughes while original artist Don Heck had Errol Flynn in mind for the dashing playboy. Some character notes: She hasn't been seen for a long time, but I always liked Bethany Cabe (upper right); I'm a big fan of Madame Masque (left, with gun), sort of Iron Man's Catwoman enemy/love interest, but I guess she'll never make it to the movies (with Whitney Frost showing up & dying on the period AGENT CARTER show); it seems that Iron Man's arch-foe the Mandarin (sitting, right) has been merged with (or replaced) Fu Manchu and is the father of the movie Shang Chi--not exactly what we expected of the "Ten Rings" from the first Iron Man movie, but that'll work!
